WHy does the USA doesn't change the way they choose a new president?
4 years ago a lot of trouble with who is the winner, this year again.
Why not make it simple. Person with MOST votes becomes the president. I heard it would be Bush this time, but 4 years ago Al Goore. It would make it much easier. In other words, what makes the current system better, then the one I suggest? Andre

Because everything in the USA is the best even if it doesn't work properly... and there is absolutely nothing the USA can learn from the rest of the world because (of course) the USA does things the best!
Haven't you learned anything from GFY? ![]() |

There is no real trouble this time. The only reason people are creating drama is because of what happened 4 years ago. The provisional votes in Ohio cannot put Kerry in the lead.
Bush got more votes than any President in history. I am not happy about this because I REALLY wanted Kerry to win |

The system will never change, the results suck, but time to move on I guess.

But still, why not listen to the majority at the first place? Also this way votes won't go "unused" because now when in State A 49% kerry 51% Bush and the state has a LOT of people, kerry loose a lot of votes.(and vice versa) So in texas it doesn't make much sense for democrats to vote for the president for example, which is a shame.(and again vice versa) Andre

There are clearly some interested parties that hope to maintain this current scenario.
Tho who the fuck knows why there is any need for an "electoral college" these days... But... again... it suits some and they still like to think of the country as a democracy with values :-)

Swedish TV made fun of the system so many times this night.
"Yeah, we left this voting system some time ago... about HUNDRED years ago" "It's not very good that people will have to wait for several hours to just vote. We also had that problem.... about HUNDRED years ago, but we took care of the problem" ![]() |
