Quite a few cable modem providers are working on the 30mbit series of modems & CMTS's - the future is good for cable.

It might take 2 months to install but you could get a 100mbit line.... if the price was right. EDIT. 3bit is about 375KB/second. Also, most cable modem providers cap their upload at 10% of the DL

I've just ordered 24mbit adsl2 to my home for $50 per month. And i live in a small city so it's abit after the larger places where you can get 100mbit fiber at home for like $40/month.
