3Mbit line I'd guess, you can get up to 100Mbit at home depending on where you life in the US but that won't be cheap.

Well...it is apparent that I was confused...my brain told me one thing but my fingers took control of the keyboard...but it is not because of the Bloody Mary as it is my breakfast virtually every day...and I have not even finished it yet.

I have a 100 mbps connection, but it's not cable nor DSL. Such speeds aren't possible with cable.

You can get 10Mbit at home without a problem if you life in a bigger city like Las Vegas.For 100Mbit you mostly got to be near a datacenter or some knot point.No cable but DSL or fibre and as I said before it isn't cheap.

Well, this thread is dominated by the discussion of cable modem speeds, so if you were referring to some other technology then you should have been more specific, otherwise people are going to assume you're talking about cable modems.

Well it should be obvious.There is no T1 (10Mbit) or higher provider that offers that speed on cable, impossible because cable lines are shared.

LAN = local area network

Most 100Mbit lines are glass fibre.

Nope..

T1 = 1.5Mbits

There is a 10Mbits cable modem provider named OptimumOnline (OOL) in the North East.

Well in Korea in Japan they have VDSL

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040629/nytu060_1.html

Metalink to Show Deployment Ready 100 Mbps VDSLPlus(TM) at Networld + Interop 2004 Tokyo, Japan

The demonstration will be powered by Metalink's ultra-fast VDSLPlus chipsets, which deliver 100 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream, the fastest VDSL speeds available.

Qwest offers VDSL but not sure if they will allow you the max speeds

Yeah right 1.5Mbit mixed it up.

That 10Mbit service shouldn't be too reliable full 10Mbit over cable because cable lines slow down on high traffic times from what I've heard, but no clue I've never used cable.Is that 10Mbit up to or just down?

2Mbit up/down DSL line here.

You don't know squat, T1 is not 10 Mbits

T1 = 1.54 Mbits

http://www.dls.net/services/t1.phtml

Overview

T-1 (or DS-1) is a dedicated digital connection supporting data rates of 1.54 Megabits per second, approximately 27 times the speed of an analog 56k dialup.
