An analysis of research studies with long-term, recreational users of marijuana has failed to reveal a substantial, systematic effect on the neurocognitive functioning of users. According to researchers at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, the only deleterious side effect found was a minimal malfunction in the domains of learning and forgetting.

----------------------------------

There are much more dangerous things that you breathe in daily without even knowing it. There are more dangerous things in the food you eat and the water you drink than there are in marijuana.

Folks use THEIR RESEARCH AGAINST THEM.

The Shafer Commission under Richard Nixon did a lengthy study, and Nixon would not even read it.

Refused to even acknowledge the report.

here it is.

http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/.../nc/ncmenu.htm

use this against them, how can they debate their own findings?

Again perfectly legal to buy a brewery or wine making kit, and in some states you may produce harder alcohol.

They toss them out, bury them and call for more research.

Pot is considered a gateway drug because the government puts it in the same class as cocaine, herion, and LSD. People try pot, realize, hey this isnt too bad.... and since the government puts it in the same class as cocaine, LSD, etc, the people think hey, if marijuana isnt bad, these cant be bad. Then they get addicted to hard drugs and end up OD'ing or going broke etc. All because the government puts marijuana in the same class as deadly drugs.

i guess you're right. when i was looking into this before it was for another reason and forsome reason it was in my mind that it was flat out illegal. i guess the limitations on it are 100gal/year and you cant sell it without a license. i admit, i was WRONG.

That's only true for chronic smokers; those who smoke pot like cigarettes. Those who smoke it less find that pot actually helps breathing problems. I've known asthmatics who has thrown their inhalers away because smoking pot worked so well.

everything you've said in this thread is pretty dumb. So I should be forced to inhale carbon monoxide, but god forbid I choose to inhale a little marijuana that grows naturally without taking a class telling me what the government wants me to know about it? Where are the ID cards proving we went to a class regarding the health effects of eating fast food before we can step into a McDonalds?

Here is another interesting fact I learned on NPR, the highway safety people issued their report. There are less deaths on the road because seatbelt usage is up to 79% of all car passengers. Now the interesting number was 40% of all car accidents that end up fatal involve alcohol. How come you didnt see the christian right screaming about alcohol usage in America .

Once again, you keep side tracking. Who fucking mentioned fast food? Not me, YOU.

and quit referring to "what the government wants blah blah", you should take a class that has a definitive unbiased foundation with proven facts.

And once again, fast food, I think if people really knew how bad it was, there'd be a significant decrease in the amount of people who ate it.

Most of them drink alcohol in church. Wonder if they'll get a DUI on their way home from church after communion.

Thats not side tracking, its proving my point that you are clueless on the way the world works and that having a class on marijuana effects would be ridiculous.

And who would give the class? Private citizens or the government? Like I said, the government has proven incapable of providing the truth on a definitive unbiased foundation with proven facts.

I can only speak for myself. I have tried most drugs once and it had nothing to do with the classification, it had to do with my curiousity. A lot of it was also the "cookie jar" syndrome.

The cookie jar syndrome is something we all suffer from. Basically it is the idea that if we are told that we are not to have something, then we are compelled to obtain it. Think of a child wanting to get into the cookie jar and is told no. The cookie jar is placed on top of the refrigerator. The child will build a ladder out of everything he can find to get to the cookie jar.

Thats an example that marijuana is not a gateway drug, but that people open minded enough to try marijuana, are also open minded enough to try other drugs. Not that because they try marijuana they try other drugs.

My post was mainly something that can be used against the government when they say that marijuana is a gateway drug.

hahaha, dude you are so backwords... i think your intellect shown in this thread is proof enough that pot can fuck your head up.

Okay, let's think here, there are currently NO required classes to inform people about the risks associated with alcohol, fast food, or pot.

Of course there is a very brief and general understanding that alochol, fast food, and pot isn't exactly HEALTHY, but none the less the large majority who "use" aren't sufficiently informed.

Now how can you conclude that simply BEING sure that people know what they're getting into before they do it, is a ridiculous idea? You can't, why? cause it hasn't been done before.

I think if people were really put through some type of informative + effective program that shed light on the realities of long term use from any of the three (alcohol, fast food, pot, and any other things of the nature) there would probably be a decrease in usage.

Just as people who are unfit and unhealthy join a gym, and then quit after a month (because they're uninformed of how to properly reach goals)... but stick them with a good fitness trainer who teaches them, they will change their lifestyle... because they have the sufficient information.

If you can prove to me otherwise on significant findings that there are programs like this with failure rates, I'll retract my statements and admit I'm ignorant on this subject.

Problem is we are dealing with decades and decades of brain washing.
If someone found a canabanoid that cured aids, the drug would still be demonized. Sad but true.

That did happen, we tried it, and it was a miserable failure. Now they keep their traps shut about alcohol and choose to scapegoat other things, like pot.

Everyone who takes herbal suplements should be required to take a class before purchasing each one if it has different ingrediants.

I dont need to prove that there are programs like this with failure rates. Its a moronic idea to begin with that should not be attempted. Your idea was to force people to attend some BS class informing people of things that the government wont even admit, but you want people to be forced to hear this shit?

Wanna know why people quit the gym? Because they dont want it bad enough. They dont like going and working out, they arent smart enough to do their own research. Who cares? I sure as fuck dont. Its their own fault and not something that should be regulated.

Exactly, that and the fact that most kids have to get their weed from shady dealers, who eventually push other shit on them, and/or give them laced shit. These are the only "gateways".

Yeah never even thought about that, of course the dealers want to sell them shit with a higher profit margin and that is addictive so they basically have forced customers for life.

Very well said. Even if it's illegal people buy it anyway.

Why should that not be attempted? There is nothing but GOOD associated with factual information and understanding.

And you're partly right about your statements of gym-failures, people end up NOT wanting it bad enough because of their lack of knowledge.... howeeeeeeever, you take those same people and provide them with a well structured customized fitness plan, and they'll be a lot more motivated.

Same thing applies to the presence of knowledge and usage of alcohol, drugs, and fast food.

The future of regular cigarettes are in question. Do you honestly think you'll be buying a pack of joints at the 7-11 in your lifetime?

Use some common sense, morons.

Wow this galleryseek guy is a real moron. Let me see if I have this strait, after about 2 sentences I have to stop reading his bs posts because my brain starts to hurt.

galleryseek is saying there should be a REQUIRED course to teach people about marijuana if it were to be legalized.

Detoxed tells him it's a stupid idea, which it clearly is.

galleryseek says, prove me wrong by showing me such a course with a proven high failure rate?

Ok am I taking crazy pills or is galleryseek one stupid, stupid motherfucker? I must be missing something.

His idea is too stupid for any rational person to even conceive, yet he's asking for a failed example of such a course to prove that his idea is stupid?

Wow.

legalized no - that brings government into it, eventually taxes and regulations
decriminalized - yes, gov would typically stay out of it

So does Asprin. Hell in reality it would never pass the FDA if it was just discovered.

Keep in mind besides the sheer brainwashing, anti drug people often jump from topic to topic when each is shot down with logic.
