Pot is considered a gateway drug because the government puts it in the same class as cocaine, herion, and LSD. People try pot, realize, hey this isnt too bad.... and since the government puts it in the same class as cocaine, LSD, etc, the people think hey, if marijuana isnt bad, these cant be bad. Then they get addicted to hard drugs and end up OD'ing or going broke etc. All because the government puts marijuana in the same class as deadly drugs.

Exactly, that and the fact that most kids have to get their weed from shady dealers, who eventually push other shit on them, and/or give them laced shit. These are the only "gateways".
