sorry, but, LOLOLOL, :1orglaugh, they sure waited long enough. now that DVDs have taken over. maybe some bank will pick it up. 75,000 type-ins a month...

but at least cd.com has a nice $million sales chart on the site.

I own beachwooddrive.com and beachwooddr.com

That is the street in Hollywood that leads to the Hollywood sign so tourists flock to it. It is also the main road up Beachwood Canyon (Hollywood Hills) so it would be valuable to real estate companies.

If anybody wants to help me sell it I will give you a cut.

Ok, I have a CEO of a company interested in buying a domain name and I have an order in at both GoDaddy.com and Pool.com

The name is currently registered with GoDaddy.com so is there still a chance that Pool.com will still catch it?

I will post the results later today.

Theo 08-15-2004 11:55 PM

anyone have any decent sample contract for leasing domains? Sedo is supposed to have one up, but their damn link is wrong.

Cover it at eNom, Pool and SnapNames. I doubt anyone else will get it.

Marcus Aurelius 08-16-2004 12:37 AM

also have

drifttrack.com

and

drifttracks.com

its big with the import crowd and catching on fast. drifting races and competitions. tracks opening up around the US for just this very thing.

monster310 08-16-2004 12:52 AM

>>godaddy doesnt catch shit... get snapnames on it too

But shouldn't it help GoDaddy that the name is already registered with them? I would think it would matter if a name is registered with Enom and then you backorder it through them and the same with GoDaddy. Does that make sense?

also have it at Enom as well, so this will be interesting :)

Snapnames does not even have it listed as a possible drop name so I can't try it there. I have used them before but was on a domain that was not in high demand.

GeorgeK 08-16-2004 04:46 AM

Monster: The domain is deleted by the registry (VeriSign, for .com/.net) according to a set schedule, so no registrar has any advantage being its prior registrar. You can see a chart of the process at:

http://www.snapnames.com/deleteprocess.html

digi 08-16-2004 07:18 AM

hm, I wonder what the domain biz will be in like 5 years.. should be interesting. I dont own great ones but some I do like.

monster310 08-16-2004 09:06 AM

damn, someone registered it via domainplaza.ca but I see that is namescout and they use pool.com for their backordering so how the fuck did he get it? . I had my order in at pool.com but it shows some guy in Newark,DE as the new owner.

monster310 08-16-2004 09:16 AM

what is the exact time the domains are release? Is it at 6 am or at 6:15 am ?

imagine what people said 5 years ago... all I know is they won't be cheaper. plus all the new TLDs they've added (.info, .biz, .pro, .name, etc) haven't made a dent in .COM at all. so .COM will only rise, hopefully back to million dollar days. and if they ever approve .SEX or .XXX, maybe that TLD will be the one to watch.

if you're backordering at drop sites, the cut off time is 1-2PM EST. if you're domain was being deleted today, it has NOT dropped yet.

Taboo 08-16-2004 10:25 AM

some of us are posting Recent Domain Sales here:

Good point. For all we know, the Internet as we know it might not even exist anymore in 5 years.

Yup

Taboo 08-16-2004 07:02 PM

The internet will last longer than any of us here. Even when the Govt launches SecureNET and Nexternet/Internet2, we'll still use domains to navigate. the Internet will evolve, but not die. in 5 years the only domains that may be left to register will be like this:

www.hdsjahdjashsnjdj23kdjskjdkasjdak43094.com

:)

but in case the domain market dies, be sure to diversify OFFLINE. if you need opportunities/ideas for businesses, drop me a line. It won't be inexpensive ($10k-$150K+), but you have to diversify, just in case. especially if an event similar to 9-Eleven happens again and targets the web, most people willl be lost and have no backup plan and no revenue stream. but I'm not going to discuss all this mumbojumbo and jinx myself. nuff said.

The Internet will, but the World Wide Web might not.

The only thing I don't like about this domian drop biz is how the hell do we know that Enom and the others are not just in there acting as shills in the acutions?

Verbal 08-17-2004 02:01 PM

Taboo ...

I can't find the thread you posted earlier today with the 'drop results' for various companies. Can you post the link please?

Thanks!

:winkwink: i worry about that all the time. nothing beats ebay's bidder ratings system.

Hey Taboo, I really like your concept for Official.

Also-

Could you enlighten me as to why some people bid up the domain before the domain even drops?

re: OFFICIAL.com

Thanks...

re: drops

LOL. I have no idea, except to scare away competition. still does not work because as low as $10-$60 will buy you in elsewhere. back in the day, I use to call pool and beg them to try "harder" to get a domain and I'd offer to pay $X whether or not someone else bid on it. not sure if they ever did listen to me :) but I got some "ok" domains thru them.
