I almost lost my girlfriend over that domain. I really am putting lots of hard work into it and perhaps I will contact you because you obviously had the same vision for it. i'm going on a vc roadshow with it in a few months to push it aggressively.
Thanks for all the kind words Taboo!!

I think that name has huge potential, and with a great business plan it should definitely grab some VC attention. You did your part in purchasing the domain, so anything else we get from the exchange wouldn't feel right. You deserve any and all the success you gain from here. Do keep me updated though on the site, I can't wait to see it develop. That's a real nice gesture though, and I appreciate it.

If you know anyone looking to buy the rest of my domains, send em to: http://www.shortdomains.com/

Best of luck my friend!

Rick are you selling the rest of those domains for 25K?

This is an interesting thread.

Wish I would have gotten into the domains business sooner.

webfather redirects porno.com to ROAR / Fabulous so i think there must be a reason for that

I'm selling some stuff if anyone's got money to invest.

The key is generic traffic.

just email me at jordan <*at*> nametower.com

I've sold some nice ones though:
Glossary.com

OTP.COM
PKP.com
Syndromes.com
Deport.com
Lunches.com
Does.com
etc.etc.

Yeah, they've been selling like hotcakes lately too... I have no doubt someone will plunk 25k for the rest of em here soon. If I had time to market these things, I would simply hold on to them and make much more.

We still have about 200 domains I believe, looking to sell the rest for about $25k. If there's a way to contact Verbal directly, let me know as well. I also have someone who want to invest money into buying the lot for 25k, but he can't afford the whole amount...

Pornaholic.com would be a great email addy.

Rick, you've got some interesting names left on your list. good price for the lot. but if no one bites or you don't feel like waiting, put them on pool.com's new auction site, but before you do, email me so I can give you contact info for people there. i think you could get a bit more than $25k over there listing them separately. Or create a special page/domain without the adult domains and contact a major VC firm to see if they'd like to buy the whole lot for $50k-100k to use for their portfolio of startups that are still under the radar. you'll at least get the price you're asking if not more. a few hours on the phone can't hurt. and you'd still have some adult domains left over to flip. i posted this on another thread:

not the case at all. VCs dont LOVE anything. it's all about the "overhang". the VCs have so much of other's ppl's money in their funds, if they don't spend it, which they are supposed to do, they have to give it back and lose management fees, etc and other opportunities. VCs are currently raising more than they ask. Startups are getting funded again, and yes, everyone is looking for the next google. Current OVERHANG is estimated at 80-100 BILLION dollars that is just sitting there right this second. If you've got a startup, now's the time to tap into VC. One of my projects is banking on it. These guys invest a 10 little paper boats in the hopes that just 1 makes it across the water to it's planned liquidity event, be it ipo or acquisition. Whether or not Google's ipo succeeds or fails has no impact on the new IPO wave, because google made too many mistakes and tried to re-invent the ipo wheel w/their dutch auction ($120+/- per share) and no longer considered a true ipo. Also, the domain market is a small indication that VCs (via startups) are starting to spend again. and even business incubators are back.
overhang = imagine a fruit tree that's branches are weighed down almost to the point of snapping from having too much fruit on the ends.

that "overhang" i mentioned is industry wide and is considered a bad thing by the people who put money into the vc fund, but it's a great thing if you're a startup or selling something to the VCs. They want their fees/commissions and need to spend money.

I just picked up FriendCash.com 5 minutes ago. I was going thru todays drop list of names that no one wanted. And for me, it was the best $6.50 I 've spent today. I'm adding it to a new sponsor search site called SponsorCash.com that i picked up for under $30 during a drop earlier this year.

Plus if you're a news/info junkie like me, look for trends, new terms etc, it's easy to find gold. I read this article and posted it on gfy days ago:

///
Has cell phone blogging found its place?
Published: August 6, 2004, 5:10 AM PDT
http://news.com.com/Has+cell+phone+b...3-5299687.html

Cell phone software makers are putting a new twist on Web logs by tapping into geotracking features in handsets. However, the location-based mobile social networks--or "LoMoSos"--are expensive to use so far, and wireless carriers have been slow to adopt them.
///

I didn't even make it to the 2nd paragraph before I realized it was probably a new tech term that VCs coined and I rushed to reserve LoMoSo.com & LoMoSos.com, then i checked google on the 6th and LoMoSo had maybe 2 results, someone's last name. today it has 57+ cause lots of bloggers are beginning to use the term. but you never know, I'm sure I can milk it for more than the $13 I spent.

Running the review site (which is doin very well) has more work than I (and my staff) can get done on a daily basis. I can barely take time to post in this thread. The domains don't take up a lot of time to take inquiries, but the time adds up, and we can't afford to take time away from our main project.

I'm hoping to sell everything within the next 30 days. A pool.com auction might be a good idea, but I'd prefer just to get rid of them as a lot. Do you know if they would be willing to do an auction for them all? I'd be very interested in that.

I really appreciate your input on this, I may e-mail you soon... maybe we can work together.

Congratulations but I don't see so much value in them.
I mean I know the value of type-in or generic domains...but with names like sponsorcash.com or friendcash.com you have to make a site first and then promote it somehow, before it makes you money.

I think I'd be more happy if I could register for free ( i mean for $6.99 or whatever the registrar charges ) a domain that would have very little typein traffic, but it would make me like 2 sales per month from that traffic just by redirecting to a corresponding sponsor's site, rather than registering a name like sponsorscash.com or friendcash.com that IMO requires work and promotiong to make any money.

Here's my list at afternic...I have no idea if pricing is way off or what:
http://www.afternic.com/names.php?best=1&u=8449

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
first thing you need to do is take hentai.co.uk off afternic and point it to a hentai sponsor asap and let it sit.

Preapproved.co.uk, market it to Credit card / banks asap.

also, FitScience.com is too cheap. you'll think I'm crazy, but add another zero and negotiate down from there. why? i know there's not much if any type-in etc, but for the fitness/health industry, you could flip it if you spent 60 days contacting ppl. take it off afternic and throw some fitness links/news feeds on it before you look for suitors. you've got nothing to lose at this point. it is a very brandable domain and can be used for ppl products/food/supplements and even pet industry. in fact, price it at $100,000 when you shop it around and work it far down to where you're very happy. let them pay you in small annual payments if nothing else. you only want $300-$1500 for it. ask for $1,000 a year for 20 years if that makes you happy. you don't always need to sell domains, when you can license them. contact GNC, weider, nautilus, metrx, atkins, etc.

I'm not really in the domain bizz.
This domain was from a guy I know. He was selling it and asked if I was interested.

yeah, when you contact them with the name/info I give you, tell them it's as a lot. if they say they don't do that, tell them even greatdomains.com just started auctioning LOTS. it's true. or ebay it all. some vc highrollers still go to the domain auctions there. and of course we can work together. I need plenty of people who want to trade sweat-for-equity and knowledge-for-equity.

btw, pornoftheday.com is nice

but take debtcapital.com off your list asap. you can make the same amount i paid you or maybe even 5 times that, with that domain.

CFSB vs. SUNTRUST

make them fight each other for it.

I mean I know the value of type-in or generic domains...but with names like sponsorcash.com or friendcash.com you have to make a site first and then promote it somehow, before it makes you money.

I think I'd be more happy if I could register for free ( i mean for $6.99 or whatever the registrar charges ) a domain that would have very little typein traffic, but it would make me like 2 sales per month from that traffic just by redirecting to a corresponding sponsor's site, rather than registering a name like sponsorscash.com or friendcash.com that IMO requires work and promotiong to make any money.
yes. correct. but keep in mind I'm running a business incubator to build brands, not just redirecting to sponsors. some of the heavyweights on gfy are allowing me to private label their sites because that's my strategy. its win/win for everyone. For me, FriendCash.com is the perfect name for one of our refer-a-friend affiliate programs we're developing. So from a sponsor standpoint, it's a perfect fit. also perfect for social-networking sites. And SponsorCash.com is as generic as I wanted it to be so I can list every sponsor (mainstream/adult/offline) in a search engine format. It does take time & work, but i only sleep 4 hours.

and know this, because of you, I had to register friendScash.com and sponsorScash.com just a sec ago. seeing your typo made me drop more money. i will never forgive you, yet I also need to buy you a drink to thank you.

Early on was 1997. Nowadays the market is fierce and already dominated by a couple dozen big players

Taboo,

Thanks man.

Programmers are doing up the store right now, should be ok. Tough market, but we have been running stores online since 1995, so I think I can make a little dent

You should make a worldwide bank index, starts some SE traffic going to that site and sell advertising to offshore compenies ( or something like that )

Polish,

Pretty good idea there. But the only problem is, doesn't that take labor or work to do? LOL

So who are the heavyweights in the domain industry? i'm not talking about just those who grab the most drops, I mean who else has healthy portfolios. everyone, please help me compile a list. in no particular order, and some may not belong anymore. I only chose to reveal those who don't fly under the radar. Everyone below makes it well known what's in their portfolios, if they don't, I didn't mention their domains.

+ National A-1
+ BuyDomains.com
+ FMA.com / Elequa
+ Chena.com
+ DomainDeluxe.com
+ DotcomAgency.com
+ eRealEstate.com/Webfather
+ Slav
+ Mail.com, just down down their email list and you'll see. I remember when they tried to IPO an incubator called World.com
+ Communicate.com
+ Reflex
+ MostWantedDomains.com
+ AVM?
+ CNET, gotta respect a company that owns/licenses: tv.com, radio.com, news.com, shopper.com, mp3.com, gamecenter.com, download.com, community.com
+ Digimedia.com, they've got lots more than they reveal on their site and they won't sell me a damn thing.
+ Yahoo. Yes, yahoo. own/buy domains to keep their competitors at bay.
+ Disney. always on a buying spree for potential projects that may get greenlit. always buying amazing domains. very large and healthy portfolio.

former kings, but still visionaries:
+ WebMagic(.com), who developed/ipo'd: Toys.com, Cooking.com, Sports.com, Auctions.com, Collectibles.com, Sales.com, Pets.com
+ Idealab, they sold some to FMA, but at one time owned or still own evolution.com, research.com (fma), tools.com, ebusiness.com, goto.com (now overture), incubated eToys/Toys.com, Pets.com, Cooking.com, and countless others.

ok, I'm sure I missed a lot, help me add to it.

also consider making your own line of exclusive perfumes. easy to manufacture now, lots of small players are entering that industry and doing very well. because of their small production runs, the perfumes sell for a high premium in boutiques. i've got an idea for two, including the domains/marketing concept, so we should talk. check out google for the story on the entrepreneur who invented the cologne: MONEY
