Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Anybody get it?

Between 14 hour on the computer, my motorcycles stunts, shaking hands with everyone everywhere I go, pleasing my girlfriends, I think its hitting me pretty good.

Any of you get it and is there an easy fix? I tried some WD-40 but didn't seem to work.

Shit sucks. I was a clarinet major for three years at Northwestern before that shit hit me and i had to give up playing. If it's starting to bother you now, get to a dr. before it's too bad to fix without a hospital stay.

Seriously does this really even exsist?
I ask because I was speaking with my grandmother awhile ago about this topic. She became a secretary full time when she was 15 and left the company at 65. That is 7-12 hours a day 5 days a week for 50 years typing and she laughed at the notion.

Hell yes and it HURTS. I got it many years ago in my right arm from playing video games, and then in the left from my job and now have cubital tunnel, I think that is what they call it...... it's in the elbow. And it fucking hurts..... especially after as many hours as I have been putting in lately.

i've had severe CTS for years now, cortizone shots help but only for a limited amount of time... i've found that HGH therapy seems to be the most effective fix, along w/ its other welcome side-effects..

I used to have it real bad. I have a friend who is a race car driver and he showed me some excercizes to help. I also added a wrist rest to my keyboard and one that attaches to the back of my mouse, so I move the mouse with my whole arm and not just the wrist. Helps ALOT!

there are braces, etc that you can use to prevent/delay the onset of CTS, but once you get it I believe the only solution is a carpal tunnel release (surgery).

As far as surgeries go, I have had worse, but it is a drag dealing with if you are single and your only transportation is a Harley.

what issues would those be? If it is done right it is pretty much impossible for it to recur.

I had a release done 10+ years ago, and never had any issues at all

It can reoccur. I had both hands done almost 25 years ago. Then, about 2 years ago I had to have my left hand redone.

The surgery techniques are much better now. This time I was an out patient and was online by that evening... but I am hard-headed too.

Best advice, get it checked out before too long.

Make sure you computer is set up like OSHA recommends. I was starting to have problems again, changed my set up, and I've been good for a few months now.

Also take a rubber band and pull it open with one hand a few times. That has helped me in the past.

Not sure if its actually CTS but for the least year or so my right hand has been closing into a fist on its own once in a while and most of the time the pinky finger and whole outside edge of that hand is numb and or tingling 24/7. I switched the mouse to the left hand side of the kb and it seems to help some but the tingling in my right hanbd is still there. Thank god im left handed or id be screwed trying to wank properly

This explains it all http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/computerworkstations/

I've been sitting wrong since 1996 when I first sat my ass on this very same chair for 10-20 hours a day.

Why didn't I see this site years ago.

Thanks.

I have it from playing the drums everyday since I was about 5. You can get medication for it, surgery or some wristband thing. They'll also have to "warm up" your wrists before you do shit, like twist them and move them around and things of that nature.

Not sure about an easy fix.. but I think I have a little of that. I have a weird bump on the inside of my arm, across from the elbow that pops up from time to time.. kind of freaky.

My daughter (computer technician & fast-pitch softball pitcher) had it a few years back when she was about 24. She had to have both operated on. Not the end of the world, but damn inconvenient for awhile. Since she was my computer technician in my computer store, it was covered by my Workman's Comp.
