Kerry.. UNFIT for Command

My My.....

All the Kerry supporters and Bush bashers seem to be ignoring this story. DNC is trying to have it squashed.

They both seem to be doubletalkers that will say and do whatever it takes to get elected.
So take your pick, liar "A"
or liar "B".
and if they don't like the outcome of the vote, they will change it.

sorry if I seem a bit jaded

Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona -- a former prisoner of war in Vietnam -- denounced the ad as "dishonest and dishonorable."

At the time, McCain's backers accused Bush allies of using telephone surveys to spread rumors about McCain. The Bush campaign said it knew nothing about the tactics and couldn't do anything about them.

"Kerry's campaign also released material noting that the group has gotten some financial backing from Bob Perry, a homebuilder in Houston, Texas, who is a contributor to the Republican Party. (GOP donor)

President Bush's re-election campaign distanced itself the ad. Campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt said the president's re-election effort "has never and will never question John Kerry's service in Vietnam. The election will be about the future."

And, in an interview with The Associated Press, Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona -- a former prisoner of war in Vietnam -- denounced the ad as "dishonest and dishonorable..."

I saw the story a few times on CNN so far today, so I'm not sure it's being ignored or whatever.

Having said that, I take it with a massive grain of salt. None of those people served under Kerry's command according to the reports I saw.

The Bush response in the report was that they dont question Kerry's service record at all, but they didnt put out the ad, so they can't stop it.

I'm sure if there was a serious issue like Kerry punches a baby or something, it'll have an impact, lol.

I think everyone who supports Bush is both blind and deaf. Kerry might not be the best man for the job (what President is?), but he's better than Bush. Anyone is better than Bush. The only downfall to Bush not being reelected is that I'm going to miss laughing religiously at his speeches, looks, hypocrisies, defenses for his lies, etc. Man, I wish our country could improve without that stuff ending.

Here is the bottom line on this men who are behind the negative commercial:

1)NONE of them ever served with Kerry while he commanded a gunship.
2)SOME of them have even PRAISED Kerry as a vet in the past. (Amazing what a few $$ will do to change a person's "memory!")
3)These are the same group of idiots that went after McCain in 2000 when he was running against Bush.

"Kerry earned his Silver Star by killing a lone, fleeing, teenage Viet Cong in a loincloth."

I think the Republicans are miscalculating. Americans want their President to have a mean streak - George W and the Republican Party should know that better than anyone. This story will help Kerry. The redneck swing voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania and Iowa will take comfort in knowing that Kerry has that good ole American killer instinct.

One question. Why are republicans so fucking angry?
McCain and Guliani are the only ones worth a damn.
You have one of them run for president and I'll vote republican.

You keep giving us fools (Bush) and I would vote for a fucking rock instead of him.

The rock won't fuck up the economy and won't start any wars, plus it's a much better speaker too.

Kerry supporters and Bush Bashers are ignoring it because it is pure bullshit.

No one that actually served under Kerry was involved with the fucking thing.

O'Neil, the coauthor of the book is an old Nixon Cronie who also worked for other republican adminisrations. He was drafted by the Nixon administration to ride Kerry's heels way back in 71 and he hasn't stopped dogging him since.

I don't know how many of you were in the military, but I was in the Navy for 8 years and let me tell you, you don't get bronze stars and silver stars merely for the asking. You get reccomended for them by higher ups and they are usually investigated before they are awarded.

And even if some of the allegations were true, I would much rather see someone who went and fought for his country whether he believed in the cause or not then someone who went and hid out in Alabama working on a political campaign and tries to pawn it off as service to his country.

Republicans have to lie to win, and it's easy for them because of all the stupid fucks in America ready to swallow whatever they're told. This Swift Boat group was discredited long ago, and even John McCain called their ad "disgusting".
http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/index.html

With a little bit of help from the Drudge Report, and an ad buy that got their nasty claims in the newspapers, the anti-Kerry Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are getting more than their share of publicity today. And they'll likely get even more in some quarters (like, say, Fox News) as the group's leader, Nixon-anointed Kerry detractor Houston attorney John O'Neill, publishes his book "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry," coming soon from the conservative publishing house Regnery Publishing.

Hopefully the media will do their job in exposing O'Neill's longtime ties to the GOP and the fact that, as they admit, none of the men who appear in the ads that will run in some markets in Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin today, actually served on Kerry's boat. So how did Larry Thurlow, a vet who appears in the Kerry-bashing ad know, as he claims, "When the chips were down, you could not count on John Kerry?" Does he know this better than Jim Rassman, who when the chips were down, counted on Kerry to save his life? Or how about James Wasser, a radar man on one of Kerry's swift boats, who says that if Kerry called his band of brothers for one last mission and said they were going to hell, "he'd have a full crew."

The facts of Kerry's service don't really matter to O'Neill, anyway. Attacking Kerry has been O'Neill's role since Nixon tapped him for the job in 1971, as Joe Conason reported in Salon in May, and his latest anti-Kerry effort is now funded and organized by Republicans:

WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad criticizing John Kerry?s military service ?dishonest and dishonorable? and urged the White House on Thursday to condemn it as well.

The White House declined.

Kerry should have been a AWOL drug using drunk male cheerleader like Bush instead of going to war.

That would have made him a real patriot.

And how is the "Un-United States" today?

Time to change the country name yet? Fickle!!

There is good and bad in most folks, be it Kerry or Bush, tho Bush seems to have caused one massive load of damage than any President so far. It does not take any brain to see that Bush should never have even passed the "pre candidate" stage.

The problem may be related to "it's not always the best man that wins". If the system allows for the election of idiots - the fault lies with the people. It's not just about "politics" and bullshit about "conservatives", "democrats" and "liberals" - it is about the ability of a person to effectively conduct the biz of the country to the best advantage of all citizens, relate to other nations in an honorable way and not to lie on a daily basis with "slants".

This "Presidency" has totally fucked the repuation of the US and that will take a massive damage limitation exercise before it has any chance of recovery.

Kerry's war record is what it is - there was nothing to be "proud" of in Vietnam. At least he made the effort to serve as opposed to lying about serving. Tho what the hell a war record has to do with managing a country - I dunno :-)

Keep grinning and maybe there is a chance one day that the best man will win

No. We're telling the truth. Unlike your party of choice, we still frame our decisions in ethical terms before making them. Your party would rather see the country burn than not be in charge of it.

How do you feel about the lying Swiftboat ad?

Every person who served directly with Kerry except for one supports Kerry for president. The men who served with Kerry say Kerry is fit for command.

A bunch of Republicans who did not serve with Kerry are featured in the ad.

The guys running this ad did not serve with Kerry, they are lying in the ad.

Some of them worked for Nixon trying to make up stories about Kerry as well.

I haven't seen it in it's entirety, but O'reilly and Dick Morris are talking about it right now (and not in a good light) and showing pieces, and it looks like it's a shitty ad... on par with any of the 50 moveon.org ads that i've seen on TV countless times.

Kerry gets a pass for the shitload of moveon ads.. cause he didn't run them, Bush gets on for this one for the same fucking reason.

But as was being discussed on local radio here (in Massachusetts)Kerry is threatening to sue any TV station that airs the ad... which is mildly ironic given that most porn webmasters are holding him up as a beacon of light for freedom of speech.

When you look at all the "half truths" and "unexplained" ads that appear on US TV for political campaigns - that shit is actually fraudulent. It does not match any "standards in advertising" and would often be deemed "illegal" in most *real* civilised societies.

It also says a lot about "US values"....
