2257 law and stalkers

If all secondary producers are going to be required to have copies of government issued ID (drivers' licenses) as part of their records, how is this going to impact the models? When I order content, I usually get a photocopy of a drivers' license with all the info blacked out. I assume that blacked out photo IDs will no longer be acceptable under the new regs? If this is the case, then how can models insure their safety from internet stalkers? Any idiot can can start a web site and buy a set of the models' content from a content producer just to get the address from her drivers' license. This sure as hell isn't gonna make girls feel comfortable about modeling.

People that sell content and sponsors will have to filter their customers/ partners better. I have a friend he is a photographer all he does is adult print mags. When he sells the pics the company gets full releases. He knows who he is doing business with. We will have to start doing the same. No more slick47 and bigtits2, like real business real names and addresses.

basically, a lot of models will not be shooting content with people they don't know anymore, if they shoot content at all

my wife hasn't shot content in a VERY long time, but has had plenty of offers...now this just reinforces the fact that she will NEVER shoot content again....

personally, nothing against our content producing friends on GFY, but I don't trust anyone when it comes to our personal info....not even someone who has been doing business for years and we know personally

I run sites for models and I have had contact with some of these freaks of nature. You'd be surprised at how many there are and how determined they can be. They could easily make themselves look legit enough to fool a content producer.

Asshat is doing this to make things difficult on the industry so that many adult webmasters will think it is not worth the risk to stay in business. Don't bullshit yourselves. This is not to fucking protect children. If even one of these women get killed because the new regs made it easier for her stalker/killer to get her home address, then her blood is on his head. I hope the asshole rots in hell if this should ever happen.

You could screen people better , you will make less money but it can be done. I am sorry to say if a model gets hurt it wont refect on Johnny A it will reflect on our industry how we really are slime like everyone says.

In spite of the fact that there COULD be prison time for not keeping records, I can't see how a prosecutor would waste his time prosecuting someone just for that. If someone doesn't keep records and it turns out that one of the models was not legal, then yes, I can see a prosecution. But if none of the women were under 18, then I'm sorry ..... you just don't take someone's freedom away over a goddam technicality. That's wrong!

How? Content producers will have to know every customer for years or do a background check on every one? How? And sponsors the same to give out content to use? How?

And it is also possible for established clients to turn into stalkers at some point. It is just a really bad thing to share someone's personal info with so many people. Too muxch can happen. I would really like to know why Asshat considered the old regs so in need of change. As long as the models' info can be verified, isn't that all that matters? This is pure BULLSHIT!

I really wish some model or group of models would sue the DOJ over privacy issues. I think there might be a case there.

How your kidding right? Drivers license copy with address that matches a utility bill . Two contact numbers, that are called to make sure they are valid. Domain who is must match other forms of id. Shall I continue ? If someone is real and they know whats happening and they shouldnt have a problem with that.

I still do not believe this is enforceable and I think if it dose go into affect it will be over turned. You can not violate the rights of someone's privacy in order to protect someone else.

The other thing is you can not single out one group of business and tell them they have to follow different rules from every one else..

Why should a TGP owner which normally only hosts a sample thumb preview have to have the records of every model. If you look at video stores or book stores they are not held to the same letter of the law. They are expecting a simple webmaster to keep all these records but allowing book and video stores the green light to continue business as normal. They are simply singling out websites I think that could be considered discrimination.

Again, this has NOTHING to do with protecting children. They are trying to regulate us out of business. plain and simple. They couldn't do it with COPA, so now they're doing this. This shit needs to be challenged in court. Where's the fucking ACLU when you need 'em?

Its not different from anyone else, if you were a photographer in print when you sold your pics you sold them with full model info this isnt new. Also adult book stores check ids at the door and dont stick hardcore nude pics in peoples email . ITs been the wild west unregulated and no one gave a shit.

Look what happened with the video game industry. They decided to self-regulate with the rating system or the government was going to kick some ass.

100000000000000000000000000000000000 of free hardcore pictures are now available on the net without regulations.

COPA isn't in effect. *YET*.

Why are we waiting for something like COPA to wake up and self regulate this industry? If the changes for 2257 isn't a wake up call, I don't know what it is.

yes but this law is not intended to stop people from under 18 from viewing porn. This law is intended to stop people that are under 18 from being in porn. So this is singling out websites. A person posting images on the net that did not produce those images, in theory is nothing more that a book store owner putting a adult magazine on a store shelf, the only difference is our store shelf is online.

As a TGP owner I am not selling the images, I am selling a membership, much in the same way a book store would sell a magazine by putting it on his book shelf.

I'm personally not to worried as I don't have very much content on my server it mostly just thumbnails.. Which if I have to I'll crop them as not to depict sexual activity. But even full nude could be considered artistic and not sexual.

This is the excuse they are using. They can say your 2257 is perfect good job now you are under arrest for obscenity.
Its fucked up but alot of this was our flault as a industry noone cared . Now they will care. The big fish are going to have to get together decide on a plan of legal action, they cant rollover on this time like the bulk of them did on the other thing. Its going to be time to step up to the plate.

I completely agree with you on this. For years I have been an advocate of NO NUDITY IN FREE AREAS OF WEBSITES. Glamour/swimsuit content can easily get guys to sign up for the good stuff. You don't NEED nudity on free sites to make money. Unfortunately, if you have a business plan like that, the ONLY traffic you will be able to get is from the SEs. No TGP or link list will list a non-node site or gallery.

Unfortunately, I don't really see adult webmasters coming together on this any time soon. Besides, even if the big sites did, there are just way too many little guys who will break the rules to get an advantage. And then there are the non-US webmasters. Why should they change just because the US still lives in the dark ages.

Eventually, the government will find a way to drive most of us out of business, which is why I have never advocated webmasters quitting their day jobs completely (unless they just hate them that much).

why should they come together when the internet is worldwide? If US webmasters stopped showing nudity do you think webmasters in other countries would stop? lol hell no they would love to rake in all the extra money.

For adult online US controls the bulk of it. When we changed our site to no nudity on the free area sales doubled . THere are alots of sites in our niche that show lots of stuff. So if people want what you have , it doesnt matter what others have.

I agree with you. The only thing the far right is going to accomplish in its war on pornography is making a lot of european webmasters rich. They will NEVER succeed in making the net porn free. Why can't they realize this and put their efforts towards something they have an actual shot at having an effect on?

I dont think that wouldnt happen. The models people want are here. No body wants to hear a girl with a thick accent. It ruins the fantasy that she is the girl next door or someone they could possibly bang into at the mall.

Even if it is required, I will not give out my model's real names and addresses to everyone. There is no amount of money worth risking one of my girl's safety.

I will comply with every single requirement the government puts in front of us, but I would challenge that one all the way to the Supreme Court if I have to!

The moment I read the new 2257 laws I instantly called my ex and asked him to pull all my content from hsi content site.

I've had too many problems with stalkers in the past - no way im goign thru that shit again

You are a good man. I'm sure you've seen the email these girls get. It's fucking scary sometimes.

I sympathize with you. I think all content producers should contact the models they have worked with and ask them if they mind releasing this info. I bet a lot of the girls would say 'no'. I wonder how much content is going to be worthless on 8-24. I have sets I bought in 1998 from content sites that have gone through three or four owners since then.

bingo... and just like all the other laws the Bush admin pushes threw it would get over turned. Again, you can not violate a persons right to privacy in order to protect someone else. This will not hold up in a court of law.

One of Tawnee's fans set her brand new car on fire and destroyed it before she even made her first payment on it. Luckily she was in process of moving and hasn't had any trouble since, but some of these "fans" can't seem to seperate fantasy from reality, and they are truly dangerous.

Anyone remember the Raiders cheerleader, Linda Sobek, that was murdered by an obsessed photographer? It can happen.

Someone above said that the big guys need to get together and stop this by taking it to court..

If you work in this industry weather you are in this country or not, we all need to be involved..

How long after asshat " slows " ( it will never stop ) porn in the us do you think it will be before they start to put pressure on Visa and Master card??

That WILL impact webmasters that are not in the US. Remember that Visa and MC are both US companies.

Somebody is showing a sign of strength and not hiding in the bush. I totally understand about following the government's requirements, but with the privacy gig, that is totally going out of control, and somebody that is worth hearing have to speak out against it. Much respect for that Steve.

well, that is if he gives out content without the 2257 attached

it sounds like he is saying he isn't going to do that...

my wife hasn't shot content in a VERY long time, but has had plenty of offers...now this just reinforces the fact that she will NEVER shoot content again....

personally, nothing against our content producing friends on GFY, but I don't trust anyone when it comes to our personal info....not even someone who has been doing business for years and we know personally
unfortunately... most you've shot for some of one of the bigger producers... in the past...whos images are just about on every adult site.. even on ours... so unless you've moved.. your wifes DL number and address will be well known around the industry...

this is a very scary scenario...

Well, instead of sitting here bitching about it on this board... I suggest you jot these concerns down in an email to A S H C R O F T himself. Not that he would care. But IMO, that is an invasion of a persons privacy. I have already sent mine off.
