Why be a cop if your always Angry...

When do these guys wake up and say, I want to be a cop. We all know it's not the money.

I always think its one of the followings...

They were a nerd in High School.
They never had any control.
They always got their asses kicked.
They never picked up Chicks.
Everyone pushed them around.
They hate holidays they rather work.

I do know a few cops and they are actually pretty cool, but why if there are so many other jobs out there.

How do you have the heart to pull some lonely person over, on a holiday or after a funeral or something and ruin their day.

Oh well, I just figured, we pay their salary, they should be nicer to us. Sorry, don't know why and how this came by. I have a pretty good record.

If you are the one getting pulled over, I think you ruined your day, not the cop.

Because not only does racial profiling go on but financial profiling.

One ticket could send a family into a financial spiral.

Let's say for instance it's a father of 2 who's had trouble meeting the bills to begin with...so he doesn't pay his insurance.

Now he's driving down the road in his beater and the cops pull him over...and yes they pull over people in beaters for not doing a damn thing other than being there.

So now because he does not have insurance he gets a ticket.

Here is a guy who can't afford to pay his insurance to begin with and now within a month not only does he have to pay for insurance but pay in some states a huge fine or pay a traffic lawyer to try to get the charge reduced.

What if he can't pay all of this..the guy must still work in order to provide for his family so 3 months down the road he gets pulled over again but now he has a warrant out because of failure to appear on the insurance ticket.

Now he's in jail, overnight...3-4 days whatever.

Shit happens...yeah maybe he shouldn't be driving blah fucking blah...what the fuck ever you god damn bunch of fucking spoiled computer kiddies.

Like I said shit happens..one incident can be the starting domino that completely changes some people's lives.

I think having a job where you get the pleasure of dealing with drug addicts, muggers, drunks, fighters... well, criminals in general.... plus the added bonus of knowing that you could die any of the days you go to work... at some point, a light swtich pops up and you become jaded towards the world.

I find the cops who've only been cops for a year or two are much friendlier than the veterans.

As for them being nerds or picked on... well, most of the cops I've seen are of pretty good size. And I don't just mean in shape... I mean, they're like, 6'4" and around 250 pounds or so. Obviously not all, but many of them look like they've never had their ass kicked ever.

Some of these fuckers are saddists. Some of them just suffer from Hall Monitor syndrome - they're fucking tools. Some of them - like the cop that let me go with a warning even though I'd been ripping through neighborhood streets trying to get the pizza home are pretty cool.

You are police profiling. I have been pulled over in a beater, with no insurance, and arrested (none ya business). One hour later I was released, the cop dropped me off at my car and said to drive safe.

Years ago when I was living in LA right during the middle of the Rodney King debacle I was hanging with a good friend of mine who drug along an old friend of his named Ryan.

Anyway this old friend of his started talking about how Chief Gates was a God he was sucking the LA police cock so hard that night...anyway I found he wanted to be a cop I looked at them both and said...

"Guys who want to be cops were the hall monitors in school and took names when the teacher left the class."

They both got real quiet and wouldn't say a word...I asked my buddy Jason what was up...He kind of laughed and said..."Ryan was the hall monitor."

Case fucking closed.

Show me where I was police profiling...you proved my point...you got pulled over and arrested.

My point had nothing to do with the police but how one minor event like a traffic ticket could end up being the start of some serious financial problems for a person.

And my point is that the person put themselves in that situation, not the cop. I must say though, you are right about California cops, they are ruthless.

This is a silly argument anyways, not all cops are the same, not all cops were losers in school. Not all cops make the same pay or have the same benefits.

My brother's and cop and he did join it for the money.

He had a shit job before it, and had a woman and kid to look after.

He didn't find it hard to join at all. Says he's got it pretty easy actually doing what he's doing just now.

So why the hell not...

In America the money is shit in a lot of places.

I knew a police officer who had been on various forces for 25+ years. Was a certified trainer etc..etc.. making less than $25K a year but he did like all cops did supplemented his income by providing security work off duty for a lot more money.

Don't forget, some cops have quotas to meet. If they are looking to get any sort of promotion or pay raise they have to meet a quota each and every month. This is no myth!

Being a cop has been statistically proven to be one of the safer jobs you can have in regards to injury/death. I can't stand it when cops act like they live in constant danger when 90% of them have never even pulled their weapon.

Also, I think the attitude change has more to do with the power aspect of their job than who they deal with on a day to day basis. As alot of people in a position of power do, they start to think they are better than everyone. Look at politicians.

Back in the days, I saw the finest girl and asked what she was doing for New Years, she said she was going out partying with friends because her husband was working.

That must suck, your out busting people's balls while your wife is out getting her freak on. No wonder there are so many divorced cops.

They just need to lighten up a bit, that's all. And stop with all the questions when they pull you over.

Where you going, where you coming from, have you been drinking are you this, are you that. Relax tough guy. Just give me my ticket and have a nice day.

I got a ticket once becuase my license plate light was burned out and I was doing 25 on a 25, he slowed down, let me pass him then pulled me over and I was in a beat up truck. Man that kind of stuff just pisses me off.

Fucking wrong, the only time i'd consider calling a cop is to come clean up the remains of a burglar, that hasnt happened yet.

Told the cop and everything but he didn't give a shit. Anywhere that they call themselves "sheriffs", they're bound to be even bigger dicks.

in my opinion, there are 2 reasons. The first is that some people like to have power and control. Alot of cops that do it for the power are power hungry and will write tickets for any reason or give you a really hard time if they just do a routine traffic stop. The other reason people become cops is that they want to do something to help people and not just sit around in an office all day. They actually like helping out people and those are the cops that let a few things slip by or will just give you a warning instead of a ticket.
