Being a cop has been statistically proven to be one of the safer jobs you can have in regards to injury/death. I can't stand it when cops act like they live in constant danger when 90% of them have never even pulled their weapon.

Also, I think the attitude change has more to do with the power aspect of their job than who they deal with on a day to day basis. As alot of people in a position of power do, they start to think they are better than everyone. Look at politicians.
