If the USA went to war against every other nation in the world, who do you think would win? Let's just assume that neither side used nuclear arms.

The rest of the world would win. They could attack us from every possible angle and outnumber us. I'm sure more than 2/3rds of the world's population would be killed in the process though.

So let's hope this does not happen!

I don't know. The USA would rule the skyies. We could just carpet bomb everyone, assuming we could find enough planes. As far as being attacked from all sides, that wouldn't be a problem if we eliminated the northern and southern borders. It would probably take us a few hours to dispose of Canada and not more than a day to take care of Central and South America.

Not that I care but in the grand scheme of things losing 10 or 20 people every few weeks during a war is nothing compared to the casualties of yesteryear wars. I mean c'mon any war will kill people. But our loss of life is like 1 half of 1%. Nothing compared to "the great wars" where both sides could lose 100,000's.. Hell if it wer'nt for the news we'd think we were perfect.

If you ask me we're pretty damn tough regardless of what you fight people on our side will die too.

Take it from me (or don't), and I hate this place.

Good point. Someone should look up the statistic, all casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan put together would probably equate to a couple of minutes on D-Day.

Hard to say, if you think about it. How many Americans own guns? I remember reading somewhere we have more guns in america alone than there are people in the world. Would be chaos and a good ammount of the worlds population would die. Hard to say tho.

Edit: Also we have reserves for oil and such... Midland cough Texas. Enough for about 20 years if I remember correctly.

I don't think there is any way the country would allow another invasion to take place at this point. If Bush sent troops to korea, there would probably be a revolution in the USA.

At the end of the 2nd world war...the US had 16 million people in uniform...with less than half the current population and a fraction of the current GNP. You do the projection. China cannot project its military much beyond its border as it does not have the heavy air/sea lift capablity to do so. In addition China just very recently announced that its military is not a match for the US military...but they are going to strive to change that over the coming decade or two. At this point it would be a strecth for China to arm 7 million soldiers with even small arms...let alone the weapons required to wage a major war.

The possibility of "Nuclear Winter" existed when the Soviets and the US possessed approximately 50,000 nukes between them...and all of them being detonated with in a very short time frame. They have a fraction of that number now...and with the worlds combined nukes...the possibility of a "Nuclear Winter" is not a realistic possiblity.

You're talking about the US using nukes against the rest of the world.

That means the US trading nukes with Britain, China, France, India, Pakistan, Russia and Israel. That's about 30000 nukes total. The explosive power of it all is equivalent to about half a million of the bombs that levelled Hiroshima and Nagasaki. More than enough to fuck everything up.

Nukes are only good against populated cities and army bases, and just to make other nations "give up" and that is IF you could actually get those bombers in there unseen.

If nations fought till death, nukes wouldnt have the same affects like in WW2

How many stealth bombers would you need to be able nuke every single threat? US doesn't have that kind of resources.

Assuming a "traditional" war, I have to agree. Once the Japanese take Hawaii, then they can move into South America as well for their launch stations. From the east and north are also several key logistical military bases, including the nuclear sub base in Esquimalt and that kind of thing. It wouldn't be pretty, but I don't see the US holding out for long, ESPECIALLY considering their high foreign population percentage. Think of all the sleeper cells already inside the country.

since years China is flooding the arms market with cheap copies of popular guns like the Colt Government (look for Norinco, to name just one of their brands) - those guns could just as easily be handed out to their own army instead. i don't think they'd expereince big problems to supply enough arms.

if memory serves, Japan wanted to give up, the US ddin't accept the offer though.

of course the 'promotion' for nukes and their power would have been less impressive with tests only, so the move is somehow understandable, from the US POV.

Ever heard of ICBM's...Cruise Missiles...etc all with Multiple Targeted Warheads. Our Nuclear Subs are armed with enough missiles with Multi Targeted Warheads to destroy every major population center on the earth. You mentioned "cities" and "army bases"...but you left off...nukes can prevent the massing of a Field Army...nukes can prevent the invasion of the US because the worlds combined Navies cannot mass their Navy for an invasion.

No doubt things would be fucked up...but their probably would not be a "Nuclear Winter". Scientists have never came to a cosensus about "Nuclear Winter"...to the best of my knowledge.
