At the end of the 2nd world war...the US had 16 million people in uniform...with less than half the current population and a fraction of the current GNP. You do the projection. China cannot project its military much beyond its border as it does not have the heavy air/sea lift capablity to do so. In addition China just very recently announced that its military is not a match for the US military...but they are going to strive to change that over the coming decade or two. At this point it would be a strecth for China to arm 7 million soldiers with even small arms...let alone the weapons required to wage a major war.
