Direct Marketing - HELP!! - Advice....

Ok I am doing a direct marketing campaign and need help writing the letter, how to get the persons attention so we can get a response and then follow it up...

The product is excellent.. but many do NOT see at as being beneficial until its explained to them..

There will be a letter for each different segment of the market... we are targetting.

Engineering firms
IT firms
Electronics
Business Services
Chemical

How can i firstly get their attention in the letter and then get the response?

We will be following up the mailshot with cold calls after 2-3 days.

Hello,

I worked in sales 20 + years... I fould it worked best when I called the prospect on the phone first... a simple call... a quick what you do! and then, I'm sure you are busy... could I mail you some information that you can review at your leasiure? Then send the info... Follow up the info. with another call where you set the appointment to meet them and make the sale...

Just my hope it helps...

any other advice, can you ICQ me 46335817, this work is for a charity and I have never done anything like this before so any advice would be appreciated.
