it may be sexist, but a very small percentage of the female population pays enough attention to current events to even make an educated comment regarding politics.

And yes, I agree that it will never go away. It will change targets over time but it will never go away. As long as it creates headlines it will always continue. So I guess I disagree that it has anything to do with Freedom.
