I'm at 11500 + posts in a little more then a year. But that doesnt mean i dont work or dont have a business at all. I like to post at GFY in my working hours, I just mix it up. Nothing wrong with that if you ask me.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I wish I ran the sort of business that was more marketing & networking oriented so I could post a lot more and interact more with fellow webmasters. But, alas...I am a mere pixel jockey

LOL

Thats 27.29 posts for everyday since the day you joined, assuming each post take you 10 minutes to read the thread, think about a reply and write it you are spending nearly 6 hours a day on GFY. And 10 minutes is fast if you include reading a thread.

So like I said, WTF do you do for a job?

When i joined up to GFY it was nothing like what it is today, a sig whore machine. The masses outweight the few.

The board has tons of usefull infomation posted everyday, but not everyone is willing to add thier point of views.

I think that post should have the option of being rated by the community and we should have the option to rate users based on thier contribution to the boards and only give them access to post at which the qualify to access.

Sleazy brings this on himself. He has on many occasions called people idiots, morons, get a life, etc etc. I realize that most of that bravado is an act to get views, but you can't light the beacon of controversy and not attact a fair percentage of immaturity and stupidity.

Unfortunately being stupid and immature is not against the rules of GFY.

How do you keep a community clean? You just make it hard to get in, and easy to get kicked out.

But thats not the philosophy of GFY, and it's not meant to be.

Is this good or bad, you decide.

I really like GFY, but I have a feeling that most respectable people are still here just because there isn't really an alternative cleaner place to hang out.

Whoever starts a new board, they quickly let it get dilluted with idiots by offering prizes, allowing paid sigs etc.

Maybe it's just impossible to create a non-profit, professionals-only or invite-only community and still be able to keep it alive and going. I have a feeling that's not gonna happen for a while.

Most programming communities have my respect. Let it be a message board or a usenet group, they're always intolerant of idiots, which I really like about them. People ask for help all the time, and they receive it just out of others good will.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, understand what GFY is meant to be, and just accept it that way.

Btw, it must be painful to read gfy if you're not making use of your ignore list feature.

I put anyone registered in 2004 using an ARS sig to my ignore list.
It's kinda annoying to see "Blabla is on your ignore list, click here to read this post" all the time, but its much better than reading their actual posts.

6 Hours ? How did you calculated that ? I think i'm 2 - 2,5 hours a day at GFY. And i run paysites ( checkout Maxpays.com ) Also i'm working at a Reality paysite ( to launch in 3 to 4 weeks from now )

Also i run some live streams at Winamp ( which take me about 5 to 10 min to update each day )

I hope that answers your question

Last night I posted about the same thing but in different words. and all I got was people that like watching the drama. No one takes this board as a Webmaster board man. its a fucking drama board now. should clean up the trash but nope. I hate it. I'm just not really serious on the board cause seems like no one else is. If I talk it might just put like 3/4 the people here in awe and not know a thing I said... well, it sucks but that is what happens when "people" don't take charge and ban stupid fucks.

We are kind of to blame on that... I remember back in 1999 fewer boards, more RICH programs fewer part time webmasters. Yes there was some huge opportunist back then that have made it hard for us to continue doing good clean business but at least back then you knew who they where and had the choice to do business with them. Much more money was around and we saw it with Big Booths, Sponsors contest. Parties like the one Nat Net threw in Atlanta where all over the place.

Boards where fun and full of good people that where ready to help you when they saw you where understanding this industry, always where the occasional lurker but people ad more respect for each other. There was way less underage webmasters and Piss match where the real thing. Serge against Brad Shaw, Brad Shaw against the world (some things don't change)

I think the problem is with these high traffic boards WE MADE IT TO EASY to get in this Industry... Some guys out there said let's open some boards and teach the world on how to try to make money in porn... No matter who they are they just need an ID (real or not) and a monitor to hide behind.

How many sponsors out there check ID of affiliates? I can guarantee you because I know so; we are all paying kids under 18 to promote our programs... We are welcoming any Tom, Dick or Arriette into OUR business world and tell them sit back and read, then we show them how to open a paypal account and we?ll pay them to post. No matter how old just post I?ll paypal you $50 bucks.... word of mouth a kid finds out tells all his friends ... BAM here we go ARS all over the place.

Then they learn about galleries but too much work so they become spammers. Pretty easy known hosting company will give you a mail server for 160.00 a month. Then you get the mail software from a GFY?er and couple of list here and there. They tell you how to use proxies and damn you?re a kid and you making a few bucks.

I love this industry and it?s been part of my life for over 6 years. I think it?s time we open our eyes and see that we are killing it ourselves buy not respecting rule number 1

It?s the ADULT Industry.

Don?t get me wrong I know a couple of really young webmasters out there that have the right attitude but to be honest? They are RARE.

KRL has a valid point, though I don't believe the majority of those here who need to read this thread will read it.

I may not make much in the overall scheme of things, but I love my job, and to me, that's priceless. The money will come with time and trial, so I'm not really upset about being on the bottom of the totem pole at the moment. That will change.

What's really strange is that I do almost all of my business here at GFY, and have learned incredible things here. Too bad more newbs can't follow suit.

KRL, while what you say is true, what can be said about getting a bird's eye-view on the situation and observing the double standard?

Sleazy is an alright guy, never had any beef with him myself, nor have I done business with him. But we all have to be realistic about situations like this; Sleazy's ego-driven posts, whether they're serious or just playing with people's minds - will make him a personal target for someone who is'nt used to it or has a bone to pick with anyone out of desperation or jealousy.

For anyone to demand instant respect just because they have been on the board longer, or are more successful does'nt fly with most people, especially in adult.

Respect comes to those who deserve and earn it. Not those who demand it.

KRL, I admire your success, but I don't respect it. Why? Because I know nothing of your methods or your tribulations. If we met at a gathering and you were a jerk to me, I would'nt give two shits about how successful you are or how much I can learn from you at that point, the respect factor is out the window.

Many people are in this business because they don't like being treated like shit by the upper class, and have taken things into their own hands to create something on their own. This is quite commendable on any level.

Unfortunately, 9 out of 10 won't last in this industry, and you have to look at it from a newbie's perspective: GFY is perceptively a beacon to the adult community. Some newbies see the only way to fit in is to play the game as they see it played. Longevity and success have little to do with what the average new poster takes into account when he sees the flames and the drama, especially when it's pointed at him.

Just my

this is only Sleazy's fault.

few people know Sleazy in real life, and by the way he acts on GFY (constanly insulting everyone), one would be correct to assume him a loser and an idiot.

Maybe the problem is that many of these "bright, successful and wealthy guys" set the example with their own bashing, hate, idiotic statements, childlike bullshit, etc?

You apparently took offense at someone having a poke at Sleazy. Well isn't he a good example? However successful he may or may not be, he uses this place like a playground (it's hard to see it as a marketing ploy in his case, since he doesn't appear to be trying to sell anything except his own legend). Newbies are far from being the only people on here who sink to name calling without having the first idea about the people they are insulting.

And let's face it, this board is called GFY. That surely suggests the audience and style that Lensman was aiming for. Okay, so there is the occasional nugget among all the spam, misdirection, half-assed humor and fake drama (I come here because a lot of sponsors don't seem to have heard of email as a way of announcing new programs and sites). Then again, nothing is all bad.

Grow the fuck up and start acting like businessmen instead of punks.

If you show some common respect for the people here that have made it already, they'll be happy to share their knowledge and insight to help you up the ladder too.

ageed.

i check this board for business mostly, occasionally while i'm waiting on programs to do their work in the background, or i'm using my BW for uploading.

this board is about 80% kid stuff, but there are some VERY smart business people here, and some VERY smart tech people here, so the visits are usually worthwhile.

So like I said, WTF do you do for a job?
The average per day does not mean that he posts 27.29 posts per day. He could go several days...a week...or more...then post alot on a single day...and this would bring his average up. Clueless as always.

Interesting.
I know my post count is in the high 5k range. I do the vast majority of my posting while I am uploading stuff to my servers. It really would not be hard no take up much work time to get in 30-40 posts a day if you are multi-tasking.
At same time weeding through the endless bullshit threads can be daunting. Some I read just for humor and to lighten the day, while others I either skip all together or try my best to avoid.
It does get to me that so damn many new users are ignoring the very basic rules here. Hell I am positive they have never even read them. I guess this would really fall onto the lack of having any real mods and the ICS staff for letting it go on.
To damn many newbies and sigwhores are pulling up way to much drama and calling out or starting shit with alot of people.
I await the day that the staff here comes in and does a massive clean up. Killing of multiple nic's and enforcing sig rules. Though I do not see this happening in the near future. I am pretty damn sure GFY treats these rules kind of like petty traffic violations, enforcement is highly uncommon.

And look at the number of replies it gets, start a thread off giving away a great offer on content ideal for webmasters and the response is not there anymore.

Start a thread off about nude pics of a girl, new female webmaster and it goes wild. But I think since the bottom dropped out of the sig market it's getting better.

I can't really say where I stand on this one. I like to come here to blow off steam and post a few pictures or read some jokes or see what Juicy is up to today or how great Sleazy thinks his glorious self is.

However, I also come here to watch and learn. NoCarrier's experiment with the TGP gallery is excellent, and I have been known to start business threads myself, now and then. They dont' get as many replies or views as I would like, but such is the nature of the beast.

I have tried posting in the Webmaster and Trade forums on GFY, but the responses are minimal to nothing. I wouldn't be adverse to moving all the business threads to them, IF they were going to get views and replies there, and leaving the Fuckign Around forum for just that purpose.

And yeah, I'd pay a small fee to be a member. Heck, I pay 10$ a year for Limewire. Just bring back the search!

Good post, Elli.

And I second the notion. Paying to be here would sure help roust out the sigwhores.

However, it wouldn't get rid of all of them, and the "deletion of multiple nicks" wouldn't get rid of all of them either.

Somewhere there has to be a solution. Something will have to give, and I'm not really sure where it's going to give. Perhaps if those of us who are serious about doing business actually went to a different GFY forum (Trades, Webmaster, etc.) to do our business and left Fucking Around for "fucking around", it'd help. I like how you think, Elli.

And for those who are screaming "Bandwagon", knock it off. A good point was made, (many here actually), and perhaps we should take it upon ourselves to find a solution to the problem if there's one to be had.

Also i run some live streams at Winamp ( which take me about 5 to 10 min to update each day )

I hope that answers your question
How I worked it out.

11,600 posts since Mar 2003
1 year 2 months = 425 days
11,600 devided by 425 = 27.29411 posts a day.
Reckoning that it takes 10 minutes reading, thinking and replying to a post gave me a figure of 272 minutes = 4.65 hours a day, every day.

SORRY I made a mistake in my calculations it's only 4.65 hours a day. Still a lot of time.

But if you run Maxpays why do you have Slickcash in your signature?

this is true, 1-2 years ago Sleazy was less of an "EGO" now he seems to be all about that and starts up way too many useless threads.

The respect he won he did a long time ago. If you came to this board recently would you respect him, if you were posting 50 posts a night, whoring your sig would you think he was the same as you?

How many newbies here know he runs anything in the Adult Internet?
