Conversions - what's decent ??

Just wondering what you folks out there think is an acceptable conversion ration. I know it all depends on the quality of the traffic, but say for decent search engine or type-in traffic for a reasonably specific search term (eg gangbangs) .....

I mainly use dialers for my UK stuff but for US traffic I've been getting around 1:750 conversions for high quality traffic. My impression is that this isn't too bad - despite all the BS constantly put out about 1:200 conversions etc.

Any thoughts...

real ratio? 1:200-300. most sponsors ratio? 1:300 -500+ after about 30 - 40% "missing" clicks

Well in the pill market and you use SE traffic .. for a term like Penis Pill store or something like that your convertions are normaly 1:75 MAX (NORMALY I SAID )

all depends on your term and product


with pay sites and SE / Type IN convertions are gonna be a bit higher to the fact thta surfers are wanting something they havnt seen before so it takes em a bit to find what they are lookin for

Ratios means nothing.....

Stop wasting your time discussing this over and over again..

All that matters is income versus expenses .. no matter if the ratio is 1:1 or 1:1000

Forget about conversion rates.... you will drive yourself crazy. Does your sponsor count the first page, the second, or the join page? Is it a $19 signup or a 39.95... or is it a $1 commission for a free site?

Find out what you are making per visitor you ship off.
This takes a lot of work because of partnership deals and recurring revenues. But track where your traffic goes and put it all into an excel spreadsheet. You will find that you might be making less than a penny on some sponsers and 15 cents per visitor on others.

Still bullshit .. $$ pr visitor doesn't say anything either ..

All you need to know is how much your investment returns ..

I buy a gallery spot for for $100.. the BW costs me $35 .. expense $135

The gallery brings me $335 in sales .. profit = $200

Then I don't give a shit about what the ratio was (which depends 100% of how you make your outgoing links) .. as long as I make $200 with a $135 investment the ratio can be 1:3000 .. I don't care ...

so if you could find a sponsor that will make your profit lets say..... 2,000 you wont switch ? I am saying this because you are sayin RATIOS DONT MATTER ... they do matter if you are willing to switch for a better ratio ;)

ratio = More $$$ from your traffic

You can't put it up like that

We have a gallery which gets 200.000 visitors :

If the gallery have a "Join here for $29.95" link it might send 200 surfers to the sponsor making 10 sales ..

If the gallery have a "free video samples" link it might send 2000 surfers to the sponsor making the same 10 sales because "free video samples" traffic is less likely to buy.

But the result is the same .. and shows that the ratio doesn't matter ... the traffic you must look at is the traffic to the gallery, not the traffic to the sponsor ..

I have sponsors doing 1:20 and some doing 1:1500 ..

if i cant put it like that then you cant say ratios mean shit


its amount the amount of traffic you send and how that traffic CONVERTS witch gives you your ratio witch THEN brings in the ROI

Sure thing ... what I mean is that the ratio at the sponsors doesn't mean shit .. the "sales versus hits to gallery" ratio is the one that matters .. next to income versus expenses ..

I agree 100%.

Even if you were promoting us with that type of traffic into our niche I would at worst recommend you try someone else to get some benchmarks.

In normal terms, with unknown traffic, more than 1:1000 would have me telling you the same.

We run an honest shiop because we can.

I think we are talking about the same thing here. You are talking about the end result... the profit. Using your example suppose with your gallery you were able to get 10,000 visitors to click on a sponsor link and you grossed $335. then your outgoing traffic was worth a little over 3 cents each. But what if there was a sponsor that with the same traffic converted in such away that you made 10cents per outgoing visitor, then you would gross $1,000 then ... profit = $865

All I was saying before is that $$ per visitor is a better way to calculate conversions than ratios.
