Well, I guess you're right. I just read through this entire thread & you never did say it. I guess I assumed your pro Iraqii prisoner views to be Anti-American ones. I'm sick of people bashing shit they know nothing about and am passionate about defending American troops - regardless of how fucked up it looks.

But I have every right AND the balls to post on this subject because I did server during Desert Shield / Desert Storm and I have seen what was done to our service people over there and what these people are capable of. I'm 37, not 21, and have lived here / abroad / and afloat. So I guess we both have assumptions that were proven wrong.

I don't doubt you met many fine Muslims and were fortunate enough to meet them during oportune times. Not when they were trying to kill you or your friends. For this you can speak kindly of them.

Had you had friends killed there and boatloads upon boatloads of suicidal martyr wanna-bees trying to blow up your ship your views would be different.

It is estimated that only one fourth of Iraqis captured are actually guilty of anything. Most are picked up on suspicion or turned in by others under torture.

Besides, these soldiers had no idea if they were hurting an innocent person or a guilty one. I don't see an ounce of fear or hatred or even revenge on their faces. The excuse that this was a part of a technique to get information is just that, an excuse. These sadistic fuck heads where doing this for fun. I know these people. I've worked with them. They live among us. They exist in every culture. This had nothing to do with the war. These are sick individuals who don't have the balls to become criminals so they become cops and soldiers to get a chance to dominate and hurt other human beings.

Not all cops and soldiers are like that. Some are actually extremely peace loving and honorable. But the environment they are in provides a venue for them to unleash their evil. And it is their superiors responsibility to control them, correct their behavior or get rid of them. And they failed miserably. So now they all must take a big bite of the shit sandwich they made.

After having read the various threads on this matter I have learned this.

1) Regardless of how morally intelligent and rationally sound you are in your arguments, points and opinions. These cheeseburger eating assholes will find every single excuse under the sun to justify their hatred and pathetic belief in the righteousness of what is happening in Iraq.

2) Although there are some decent American citizens. George Bush is representive of the mind, will and beliefs of the majority of the American people. (Putting the blame on him is far too easy and as since the USA is supposed to be the greatest democracy on earth, there are checks and balences to remove an idiot from power. If the majority wanted him removed from office he would be.)

3) The citizens of the rest of the world are wakeing up to what I learned when I lived in the Washington State. America is a nation built on hate and ignorance. And as such at its core is savagery. It is truely an evil country.

4) We are witnessing the beginning of the fall of the United States. Perhaps the current politicians in the various nations will not take an immeadiate stand against the USA. But all future political dealings will be viewed by everyone with suspicion and mis-trust. Alies will be reluctant to believe and side with the USA and international businessmen will seek others to deal with.

5) The terrorists have already won. They no longer need to take hostile and horrific action against the USA. They just need to feed into its hatred and it will collapse on its own.

6) In the end it is America that now strikes terror into the hearts of the world.

There is an old curse that says, "May you live in interesting times." To this extent we are all damned. I am just a simple person and have resolved myself to not pray for peace but for a future.

All the knowledge I have of Nazi Germany was taught to me by teachers that didn't even know the true origin or meaning of the swastika so I'm not even going to say I know what really happened there.

I have not served with nor have I ever come across any nazi soldiers, so I can not tell you what the differences are, or who is / was better than who, but in common, they obeyed orders, which is what a "soldier" should do, regardless of MOS, personal feelings or morals.

Does this looked fucked up and wrong? On the surface, of course it does. However, no one will probably ever know what exactly was going on when these stupid pics were taken - I'm guessing it was all during interrogations, but speculation either way is just that... speculation. The media has done a great job making this a bigger mess than it already was.

As you well know war is hell and bad things happen. Always have, always will. To think everyone, or anyone for that matter, will always comply with the rules of The Geneva Convention is just asking for disappointment. Personal feelings WILL come into play and people will not always act sanely in insane environments. Justification? No. Just reality.

Anyhow, to somehow think that things will eventually be solved with a chess game over coffee and tea is just hopeless wishful thinking. War is bad. People are going to die, people are going to be mistreated and people everywhere are going to object. Those are certainties.
