I can't believe that there are people who are agreeing with what those soldiers did! And we wonder why America is in such a state of moral degradation? These people are human beings, for christ's sake! These prisoners may have been shooting at those soldiers, but they were following orders. We don't allow our police here in the U.S. to treat prisoners that way, and we CERTAINLY shouldn't be allowing foreign POWs to be treated that way when we justified the entire war by saying we wanted to put an end to Saddam's abusive and tortuous rule. How does it look to put and end to Saddam's regime and then turn around and treat the Iraqui's the same way he did?

here, a refresher: "Al-Saeidi said he found no signs of rape during an examination although he acknowledged he was not looking for any signs of sexual assault. " Sounds like the doctors point of view to me. |

Thanx. Yeah,it's pretty sad when your order is to help a country and when you're down there to realize you have to help your comrades to even not get killed. You have my respect for being a veteran. War is something you never forget, but it does teach you things for life. Steve |

The hoods over the heads is another form of control. The guards are certainly outnumbered, they need to exercise their authority to stay in control. The stack of prisoners . . .not sure what that was about, the icing could be for the benefit of the prisoner, can't tell by the pic. |
doesn't look too good really i wonder who the prisoners are

Now why don't you go back to playing "Quake" since you know what it is, and put the clothes in the dryer for your mom since you share a basement with the washer and dryer in your moms house. :thumbsup |

Most likely the guards have no need to even load their guns. My point was: These prisoners didn't shoot at the guards, and the guards have had total control of them every second they've been confined. These prisoners most likely have not been a threat to the guards at any point. ..to continue and reply to someone saying that this was common practice before interrogation. It is. Too bad none of the guards were trained for the interrogation techniques, did you guys read the report? |

It doesn't seem like torture so much as humiliation and by the way did you notice that they said the us soliders had "sex" with prisoners but they didn't say "rape" Hmmmm :question :question

Who is Donny? I'll be honest, I didn't read her book, or the particular links you provided, just what you posted. Raped or not, well I guess only she knows for sure. I just think its sad that you'll dismiss the beliefs of a traumatized female but jump on the bandwagon to believe reporter that was good enough to post "pre dog attack" pics, but not "post dog attack" pics. Wonder why those were left out... oh yeah, they probably don't exist. I don't really have to produce anything, I saw what went down over there the first time around and I know what these people are capable of. To refer to them as nothing but do-gooders like you have been YOU obviously you don't know what the hell YOU are talking about. |

Get that through your head. Whoever thinks the US is the defender of International Human Rights is both deluded and a retard. Hello.......... Does the phrase "School of the Americas" ring a bell? Yes, that's the 'school' in Quantico, VA where the US Military trained its dictator allies in Latin America's police and army to TORTURE and INTERROGATE communists. Not an ounce of regard for human rights there, not an ounce of regard for human rights NOW in IRAQ. I love America but I don't let my patriotism blind me to the facts. |
The pictures of the citizens with the iraqi newspaper is definately bad news for the US. The US military did NOT need those pictures to get out to the locals.
Everyone (myself included) can make excuses for the soldiers all we want. I'd be willing to bet that the reason behind the pictures and actions was to try to raise moral and rally troops together. Obviously its not an ideal situation for the soldiers overseas. Its a controversial war at best and they have some seriously harsh conditions to deal with. They need every confidence boost they can get. Unfortunately they get it by demeaning the enemy. Welcome to war. |

you know what really sad... the fact that some 21 year olds that have never been any farther than cancun and push porn for leaving try to pretend that they have stance on serious issues like that.. unlike you, I spent number of years working in Muslim countries I do know their religion and habits? yet, you, who has probably read your last book during senior year of high school has enough balls to post an opinion on public board? |
I was in Military Intelligence when I served in the Army, we were trained on the Geneva Convention and the fair treatment of all. I am ashamed that a few assholes are crippling our position in the world. This is not the norm for the military, look at our Army Special logo, it has a soldier with a weapon pointed and a hand extended. We are very humanitarian when it comes to our place in the world. I am sick of these few bastards that tarnish that and this is what the world sees. We are building schools and hospitals in Iraq to help, but only this negative shit gets reported.
