I highly doubt it will be Hanks or any other "name" starring *AS* Superman.

As with ?Batman: The Beginning? they want a relative "unknown" and young actor. They do not want to continue the story line from the other movies, but to create a totally new one.

As has been said for a few years they want to do a Batman and a Superman movie so after both have been released they will have Bale and whoever is the new Superman make the ultimate super hero movie.

The last ?Batman? almost killed all the superhero movies due to the idea of using ?names? to make $ instead of a great story and losing so much $ and fan support it stopped production on most of the super hero movies at the time.

The only good thing to come out of that was it made Tim Burton drop out of Superman and that took the idea of Cage as the man of Steel with it.

X-men proved that you do not need ?names? to be an awesome movie, but a great story that made sense and a director who is a FAN of the characters and not somebody who never read a comic in his life.

I agree with everything you said except Brian Singer was not a fan of the X-Men characters, and actually hadn't read the comic. He sure made awesome flicks out of it though

I call bullshit on Tom Hanks.

You sure you don't have him and Colin Hanks mixed up? Colin Hanks will play Jimmy Olsen.

I agree, they couldn't have found a better Wolverine... or some of the other characters.

As with Smallville on televsion, I don't think they could do any better than their choice for the young Superman.

Sometimes you just have to go with who's best... not who's got the most well known name.

Fuckin Lame man. 3 years ago Tim burton was going to direct it, that would be pimp, then a year and a half ago Nick Cage was going to be Superman, retarded. And now Forrest Gump is going to be Superman? Every superhero movie has sucked balls in the last 20 years except the 2 X-men movies and the first 2 batman movies.

This shit is lamer than spiderman.

I think tom hanks is a good actor, but I don't think he'll really fit the part of super man! But hell, it shows it's not a low-budget film!

Hanks would probably do fantastic at the Clark Kent parts. But his FACE just isn't right for it. He doesn't have the macho, square-cut facial features that helped Reeves fit the character so perfectly. He actually looked like the comic book Superman.

Unless they give hanks a prosthetic jaw, it's just not going to convince me.

Im not fucking kidding guys...

As Lensman .. He was with me last week at the Movie Insider Convention and it was the biggest talk at the show..

Just wait you sheep when you see it on Entertainment Tonight.

Then you'll see I was right...

Im not sure why you guys think Hanks cant cut it...

I mean it seems that just mentioning his name creates so much attention for the role, and hes such a good actor, all of you will see it just to see how he or the movie does..

Seems like a good decsion...

I agree that Hanks could handle the role, but I doubt he will be cast. The script by J. Abrams ... which to the best of my knowledge is the final script for the 2006 Superman Release (which I've read excerpts from) is based on a much younger Superman ... as is the Batman Begins script which Christian Bale is playing the lead. There were talks about Hanks when there were talks about Batman vs. Superman but that project is on hold as of now. Last I heard WB was giving the final say-so to McG who made a couple of statements about wanting Henry Cavill. If you're looking for some decent info check out www.superherohype.com ... they are usually dead-on with any info they release. Personally ... I'm waiting for the next 2 Spidey flix.

I think he is a great actor and have enjoyed many of his movies. I don't see him as being convincing in this role. I hope I am wrong, Superman has always been enjoyable.

I assure you, I have more ears on the inside than these silly insider websites do that you guys post...

Its going to be Tom Hanks..

Who do you think runs those insider websites???

Certainly not insiders..

They are kids..

yep i thought so as well.

not sure where the kids saying hanks doesnt fit gets that from..

insiders and most of us 20-40 year olds agree that Hanks is the man for the Job..

I have a feeling most of the GFYers who dont agree are under 20 and never really got to enjoy the older movies.

Somewhere, in some far off land, like... Detroit... some uber-geek's head is spinning off his shoulders.

No way Hanks can pull off Superman

Superman is supposed to be always 35. Kind like James Bond. It wouldn't surprise me if they went with Hanks. I think he's a great actor and could do the job but others could do it better. Before they Christopher Reeves was set to do the first Superman movie they had been looking into Robert Redford. Now that I think would have been the worst casting of all time. At least Tom Hanks has dark hair. I just couldn't picture this being Superman...
