As with ?Batman: The Beginning? they want a relative "unknown" and young actor. They do not want to continue the story line from the other movies, but to create a totally new one.

As has been said for a few years they want to do a Batman and a Superman movie so after both have been released they will have Bale and whoever is the new Superman make the ultimate super hero movie.

The last ?Batman? almost killed all the superhero movies due to the idea of using ?names? to make $ instead of a great story and losing so much $ and fan support it stopped production on most of the super hero movies at the time.

The only good thing to come out of that was it made Tim Burton drop out of Superman and that took the idea of Cage as the man of Steel with it.

X-men proved that you do not need ?names? to be an awesome movie, but a great story that made sense and a director who is a FAN of the characters and not somebody who never read a comic in his life.

I agree with everything you said except Brian Singer was not a fan of the X-Men characters, and actually hadn't read the comic. He sure made awesome flicks out of it though
