As far as money is concerned, it's often the quiet individuals who make the most, and a lot that you don't think have it, have fairly large accounts.

I personally look at the last 3. Personality is adriving force. The reason people are gravitated towards certain people is because of their traits. The ability to piss people off, get people to think, making people laugh...These are all important! A reaction of any sort is better than nothing.

Intelligence is definitly a factor as well. If a person is brain dead, there's nothing to work with. He may have all the money in the world to hire staff, but once the staff is confident enough, they will all branch out on their own.

Drive is the last big motivator. If a person sits on their ass and is flakey with everything, it detracts people from wanting to do business with them. A hard working individual is a person who deserves respect, no matter what level they are at.

Money, cars and women can be had by anybody with a brain or a little luck. I think a good majority of individuals at shows has some money...whether it's from porn, a 9-5, inheritance or by other means. The others are a bullshit exterior that really isn't that important.

Given that, who do you think the top "somebodys" are?

In this business climate I think an individual is a "somebody" if they have longevity.

With the way and speed things change in this industry the person that is able to adapt and survive for the long haul has to be considered a somebody. (they need to do this in as honest of a way possible ie: not ripping people off along the way). They may not belong to a message board clique or have become a message board celebrity, but they have made something out of themselves regardless.

this is very true, but what happens in the case of the people that are just good actors here, and in real life , they do not have / or do what they say they do, or portray themselves to be.... at some point there actually has to be some SUBSTANCE to the person, other than being a liar, and a self centered cheating backstabber does there not?

Power in this biz can come from lots of things. It's like a chess game: you don't win by one good move, you win by many good moves, each move creating a small advantage.

Money, if well managed, buys programmers and other employees, and that is a kind of power. That is the end result, however. To get there you slog your way up.

Having a #1 ranking on google is another kind of power. Not as good as having made it, but you have something going on, you're on top of your own little world, truckloads of link requests coming in every day, you are driving.
