Northwest secretly turned over complete passenger info, credit card numbers, addresses, phone numbers, etc. to the Feds and are just now admitting it.

Also, starting soon you have to give up your date of birth when buying airline tickets.

Wonder where that info is going.

Instead of asking for all that other info they can ask the seemingly innocent info for the same result. It would take nothig for a computer to run a real time passenger match when the birthday and name is entered.

Ok, don't worry about it. When I hear the argument, "The only people that have to worry when the gov tracks them are criminals and lowlifes" I just laugh.

All it would take is the updated COPA ruling to be put in effect later this year for most of us to be considered potential criminals. Mistakenly slip up on your taxes= potential crimanal. Got any parking tickets? Ever let your license expire? There are hundreds of other ways for any of us to fall out of favor with current laws unknowingly. Each one at least carries a fine. With the US government in such a money crunch all it would take is for them to be able to track you so they can collect at the worst time.

Let's say you are going on your honeymoon. You are getting ready to hop on the plane with your honey to enjoy 7 days in Cozumel. Next thing you know you hear, "Mr. Sosa, please step over here with us. Did you know you had 2 unpaid parking tickets from your last trip to Orlando? You cannot leave the country until they are paid. With intrest and late fees the amount is now $4,000. If you cannot pay now we will have to detain you at the station."

That's only a minor infraction but that's still a major inconvenience. Things like this will happen at the airport. Actually something like that already happened to me so this is why I know it's is where the US is going.

Exactly right. And then you have to worry who gets to see all this personal info? Are they honest? Will they pass it along to cohorts on the outside of the govt. running identity theft frauds and scams.

What about when your info accidently get mismatched or the data corrupted someway and you get flagged innocently. The more info piling up the greater the likelihood of fuckups.

There's no chance anything is going to happen on a plane again. Think about it... if anyone tried something on a plane now most American men will fight hard to stop them. Everyone knows this. Terrorists are 99% more likely to drive another bomb filled u-haul into a big building than try omething on a commercial airliner. If they really wanted to do something like that they would probably use a corporate jumbo jet anyways.

I don't really think securing the air is the true motivation behind the added security.

Think about it... if anyone tried something on a plane now most American men will fight hard to stop them. Everyone knows this. Terrorists are 99% more likely to drive another bomb filled u-haul into a big building than try omething on a commercial airliner. If they really wanted to do something like that they would probably use a corporate jumbo jet anyways.
