Personally I would chargeback a charge coming from a tos line if i could. I belong to the consumers that don't read the TOS of the products and services I purchase and I never had such kind of charge in my cards. I understand agressive billing, marketing etc but I think these cases go too far.

Oh, silly us. What are we worried about. Obviously, he never has any intention of recurring then, does he. This is just a clever way to scare off potential customers. Boy, he's not just a great businessman, he get's my vote for marketer of the year.

Anyhow, check out www.regnow.com for 100's of competitive mainstream affiliate programs that have chosen not to scam their customers.

Bring it on Hooper. Two can play and I like to play hard. Let's see who's still standing when the dust settles ;)

Nice diversion tactic, but last I checked this thread was about your shady billing practices. You should probably get your facts straight before asking stupid questions about Jettis.....

I also find it interesting that at the start of this thread, you stated that conversions are:

popupblocker - 1:83
secure favorites - 1:109
windows messenger killer - 1:128

And yet your banner says 1 in 20.

So, then, what is it...oh, wait, I've got the right answer...you are basically just full of shit.

And again I suggest webmasters check out www.regnow.com. Literally hundreds of HONEST mainstream affiliate software programs. Make out like a bandit without having to resort to actually being one.

And no hard feelings Hooper..it's just that I think you are a lowlife crook.

P.S. What the hell does Jettis being on Cogent have to do with anything. Someone is gasping for air here...no names mentioned. (Hooper)

no hard feeling with you either 49th.

my banner doesnt say average conversions of 1:20.. and posters in this thread have confirmed that they are/were doing 1:20 raw with our program.

regnow doesnt accept referrals from porn sites. other than that, fantastic idea!

Ah, yah, it does.. "Great titles ...." "Converts at 1:20"

And yes, regnow is actually 100's of independant companies..and yes the vast majority do allow adult material. And they only scratch the surface. There are literally 100's of affiliate programs out there...HONEST affiliate programs. I think I can give the other webmasters on this board enough credit to assume that they know how to use google to search them out.

Anyhow, back to the pond with you, my scum sucking friend. It's time to let this thread die. I do agree with you 100% on one of your points..any publicity is good publicity..and I for one don't want to jump on your publicity bandwagon.

this is like talking to a 5 year old.

bottom line is you can promote whoever the hell you want to or dont want to. i really dont give a fuck what you do.

BUT

  • Our program is solid!
  • Our conversions are fantastic!
  • Run by marketing professionals, not amateur programmers!
  • New titles introduced regularly!
  • Works great in exit consoles, mailers, and members areas!
  • Run by the most loved GFYer ever, Hooper! ;-)

check it out: http://www.idownload.com and find out what all the fuss is about yourself.

Too funny.....

Finally, something I agree with.

Anyhow, to recap for you late comers. Hooper's program sells a number of software titles. HIDDEN in the T & C is a clause that states that if you purchase the software you will also AUTOMATICALLY be billed a recurring $24.95 software of the month fee.

So, as an affiliate, you have to factor in that some surfers will read the T & C, and simply decide not to purchase.(So you lose any possibility of commission). Plus, you have to consider the fact that you are scamming people out of their hard earned money. (People, as in people that are no different then your friends and family).

Or you can simply sign up for one of the other 100's of legitimate and Honest programs out there. Make the same or more money... and offer REAL value.

Hmm...doesn't seem like that hard of a choice to me.

You keep saying you're going away, but you keep coming back. I have to assume that means your a liar or an idiot. not sure which.

We tested conversions without any recurring notice, we tested several different price points, and higher price points affected conversions, but adding the recurring notice absolutely did not.

Adding the recurring notice resulted in a higher call volume to our call center requesting to not be billed for sotm club however. A cost which we bear.

49th, until you run something of your own, or do processing and can run the actual numbers you're just talking out of your butt.

Leave this to the professionals.

So..what in your response changes the scum sucking quality of your business practices. You really don't have a clue, do you.

Non-scamming affiliate programs:

www.regnow.com
www.shareware.com (simply check out their top listed programs. These are the ones that will also sell well for you)

The above offer the same as Hooper, without having to resort to being a crook.

P.S. Don't move to my neighborhood. We don't like your type here.

our billing practices are up front and honest.

i know it sucks to look in the mirror and see you every day, but dont worry, you've got gumption kid. i'm sure with a little work you can build something of your own and stop being a hanger-oner.

In the mean time 49th, you should feel free to keep posting regnow and the others, their programs suck and most of the products on their programs suck too.

Stick with the pros, stick with what is simple, stick with somebody who understands YOUR kind of traffic.

If it's honestly not a ploy to scam people, why not just state on the front page and the buy page that there is a $24.95 per month fee that the customer will have to pay?

I sell software all day long (and have been doing so profitably for 3 years) and not once have I had to add hidden billing into the T&C in order to do well. Things like that come back to bite you in the ass 99% of the time, and also make the people who have links to it look like scammers as well.

If it's not a scam then make it plain to see. It's simple.

as long as everything is legit and legal (which in this case it is) its all game. Its really not his fault if people dont read his TOS, if he can handle the phone calls and chargebacks then he can afford to do something like this.

Good program hooper, congrats.

With respect to Jettis bandwidth:

We are BGP multi homed and the traffic takes the shortest route. We have several Tier 1 providers servicing our network and multiple pops, east and west coast, to provide redundancy and the highest performance. Cogent has many products, the oversubscribed 100Mps (general office bandwidth) is NOT what we are using and the misapplication of that product to hosting has caused a majority of the complaints about Cogent. Our Cogent connections consist of GigE transit which is non-blocked, non-oversubscribed, 1,000 Mbps optical Internet connectivity. While we have had no problems with Cogent they are not our primary or only Internet connection and traffic is routed through their network via BGP.

You mean you've never paid any webmasters a recurring commission, or you've never billed customers the recurring $25/month to which they "agreed?"

i mean we've never scheduled anybody to be rebilled period. we are simply leaving the verbage there so that we have the option to initiate the recurring program if we choose to do so. if we *do* choose to do so, it will not be a retroactive process. additionally, we have left it there so that our counsel can review the verbage and current ftc regulations and recommendations. it's called being proactive.

most importantly, it has absolultely had zero effect on conversion ratios.

kjell, sounds like you have a nice setup in place. congrats.

Also the same Hooper who complains about others billing tactics, but then comes up with a bunch of lame excuses over his own. At least be man enough to own up to what you're doing instead of treating everyone at GFY like they are idiots. You're not fooling anyone.

Too funny.....

I guess this console killing program won't destroy the industry as Ken's would of a year ago. Imagine that!

You should!
Competition is what it's all about.

I was actually thinking of giving it away for free and paying 30 bucks a pop to webmasters.......

Ah, yah,...duh...of course it doesn't hurt conversions..because it's hidden in the T & C, and no one even knows its there.

Now, try it the way an honest business would test price points and options..clearly advertise the $24.95 per month fee...I think you will be singing a different story.

But again, why do I think for a minute that you will understand...

i *understand* you just fine 49th.

it's not a comprehension issue, it's that this is our business so we'll do it as we see fit.

launch your own program and you can do as you see fit.

you're one of those people who likes to criticize, but you'll never put your own ass on the line for anything will ya?

Yep, it's your business..agreed
But is it your right to blatently rip off the consumer ... nah..
That's where the criticism begins and ends.
Again, nothing personal. I take a similar approach to all individuals and companies who take the low road...and throw common decency and business ethics to the wind.
Feel free to come back and criticize me when you know how to build a real business...

I wonder how many people are fully reading the TOS for idownload.com itself before signing up as affiliates...

I'll criticize you any time i feel like it, with or without good reason, because you've shown yourself to be a pompous knowit all with no real experience, only a "holier than thou" attitude which is great, but quite hypocritical given who you're promoting.

If you're looking for somebody to pat you on the back for having a code of ethics, go to church. If you're looking for somebody who will admire you and look up to you buy a dog.

You can keep bumping this thread if you'd like, cause I really dont mind. I've been posting long before you came around, and I'll be posting long after you're gone, because guys (or are you a girl?) like you who have their head up the popes ass almost always go away broke and disappointed

I for one am here for profit. EVERYTHING I do is in the name of profit, even when I'm bashing competitors. Theres nothing hypocritical about it. Are you here for some other reason? If so you should really look around at who you're talking to.

So with that said, make great $$$, promote iDownload.com products and sleep well at night knowing that our products have solved a problem that somebody was having with their computer

Simple fact is...you have resorted to scam tactics to make your "profit". So, I repeat, when you have the skill to build a "real" business, then the sparring can continue. Until then...run along little doggie.

Here's another top notch program for those of you who don't want to screw the surfer... http://www.killercash.com
Top notch...honest...and their programs work...with no need to join a shady Software of the month club.

And warlock, you miss the point completely...I don't care about the "conversions". But simply put, why would you promote a piece of crap, when you could promote much better programs, which are a win-win for both you and the ordering public.

Well, hooper did bring it up.

anyways...

Hooper: It seems a little silly to have the text there in the terms if you're not actually billing customers on a recurring basis at the moment. Surely you're just scaring off potential customers. If they're not going to be rebilled, get rid of the text for now and i'm sure you'll make a few more sales.

You mentioned great customer satisfaction. Stocktrader23 asked earlier about customer satisfaction, and how you measure it and you replied with number of chargebacks/refunds/support requests per sale. You honestly don't see these numbers changing if you implement the recurring charges?

you're an idiot. get some business experience, then we'll talk. til then you are just keeping my announcement alive, thanks

Promote http://www.idownload.com and get paid for every sale. Make your money with professional marketers, not clueless programmers.
