WTF is up with Dell?

Bought a laptop from Dell a few weeks ago and a few minutes ago (11:00 at night) I get a call from some fucker that can barely speak english telling me he's from Dell wanting to know if I was happy with my computer. I asked why the hell he was calling my house at 11 at night and he said 'sorry, I'm in India'.

What the hell is this world coming to.

yeah man...i used to work for them here..they closed odwn a whole floor..and sent it to india...lol

the people left that still worked where i was, i see them on the home shopping network pushing dell...lol

the company is a machine...it will follow it's metrics to the letter.

Gotta admit Dell is solid. I always heard nothing but positives with people owning their machines.
Perhaps their customer service should be informed about their phone call procedures.

I wanted to by a lap top from them around Christmas. They took the order, and then told me they couldn't fill it until well after christmas. I canceled. I think I'll just build a regular work box for myself with the money instead.

Many companies are utilizing India these days. The number of English speaking people is on the rise, labor is cheap (though going up) and turn over is not as bad for call center workers as it is in the USA.

There is going to be a lot of money made over there if they can just keep from getting in a bitch fight with their neighbors....

I have had a Dell since May and I loved it...at first.

One day the keyboard took a shit...they had a new one on my doorstep the next morning...still a minor inconvenience. Then the biggie...a couple weeks ago my hard drive completely failed...lost most of everything I did the second half of the year.

They had a new HD installed within days but now I need to have many gigs of data recovered off the failed drive. Dell had some clown contact me with an estimate for recovering the psd's...$2,500 - $2,800...told them to pound sand up their collective asses.

Funny part was the follow up phone call I got from Dell's customer satisfaction department. They followed up on some of the tech support calls I made. I am greeted on the phone with a horrendous accent...which highlights all the support calls. They asked how they could improve their tech support and I told them the thick accents made the calls last twice as long as I would have liked since I had to keep asking, "huh? What was that?". He just said he'd make a note of that.

Yes...for Dell corporate owners. The article went on to say:

"Calls from some home PC owners will continue to be handled by the technical support center in Bangalore, India, and Weisblatt said Dell has no plans to scale back the operation there."
