Google Adwords

Anyone up for offering some tips and tricks for Google Adwords? Like how to get the most bang for my hard earned bucks? I'm running about 15 campaigns right now and the traffic is working out pretty well. Much more productive than anything I've purchased from brokers. But I can see it can get very expensive very quick. Just looking for ideas and tips to maximize my ad dollars. TIA!

Don't use the word "free"? I'm not paying for the word "free" but I do use it in one of my description lines.

if you can improve your CTR, your CPC will go down

Depends on what you're targetting, I don't want anything where the surfer's intention was to get it free. This only applies for adwords though...

Most of it's tweaking. Alot of people ditch it when they don't see returns in the first week but you just have to get on it and update your keywords constantly. If you could get a script to track which search terms convert the best for you it'd be worth its weight in gold.

Tweak like a meth addict, yahurd?

I see WG. Makes sense.

On improving CTR, just better descriptive text?

What about the whole formula for placing your highest bid for a click? Any magic in there?

It really is about experimentation. For some niches, you may want to be first no matter what the niche. Typical examples is if your targetting the official site for a model and all the other advertisers are trying to get the same keyword to go to same site. Chances are you want to be first in this case (or at least have the best adcopy to maximize clicks).

In other cases, you may want to go after volume and lower your CPC to try and maximize ROI. There's no clear cut formula to success with adwords, there's so many factors involved that you need to experiment. I easily spent $1000 when I first started in losses until I figured out what worked for me...

Thanks! Just like everything else it's gonna take some trial-n-error. Hopefully it won't be too $$$!

I'm looking forward to my adwords xmas/holiday gift.. the blanket they sent last year was cool

like WG said trial and error, 95% of people who fail with adwords fail because they give up too soon.. I know it's a bit of a truism but with adwords really every mistake you make is a valuable lesson learned.
