No. If you donate your organs when you die, everyone along the way will make money from removing, handling, transporting, and implanting the organ. Everyone that is except your family. The money in the organ/transplant business is insane and not a dime of it goes back to the family of the donor. Fuck that.

More enlightened than you know. Why should the family of the donor get nothing while tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars are being moved around. Couldn't 1% be skimmed off for the donor family to show some fucking gratitude?

When the organ removal guys work for free, when the doctors work for free, when the airlines transport the organs for free, when the transplant patient receives a bill for $0, I'll be the first to sign up.

Why shouldn't the donor family get anything? That doesn't make sense at all. If they didn't want the money they could donate it to charity.

Not sure anyone would want your organs after your attitude towards it anyway. What makes you think doctors or airlines make billions on transporting or implanting organs anyway?

I am definitely a donor, if I can help someone live even a day longer so family and friends could say goodbye, then I know I have done good by doing so.

It's a moot point, anyway. The organs are useless to the dead person and their family. What does whether or not they get paid have to do with anything? Let's say they pay you. Who do you think is really paying you? The same person who gets the organ, that's who. Cost is passed along just like in any industry. The market already exists. It is a HUGE fucking industry. The ONLY people that don't get paid are the families of the dead guy and perhaps the odd hospital or doctor that donates an operation now and again.

Yes, it would be nice if everyone did it for free but it isn't going to happen. There are also a lot of differences between the donor and everyone else in between.

Your body has no overhead once it's dead. You didn't invest money in your organs and it's not going to cost you anything to give them away. It's silly to hang on to them. You don't need them. It's that simple. You'll get nothing either way, so you might as well do a good deed.

Hey, family can?t get back the family member they lost, and I doubt they want compensation organs for whom they lost so why not be a donor and help someone else out? Doctors are just doing their job which usually means getting a pay check.

And if you really wanted to do the right thing you wouldn't be so concerned about who's getting paid for what. So, in essence, you are exactly the kind of person you are protesting by refusing to donate your organs. It must be tough to look in the mirror.

Also, for someone who claims to know so much about all this you sure do say some ass-backwards things. Organ transplants are not something that a doctor can do in his private office. Doctors performing major surgeries in hostpitals don't set the prices. The hospitals do and in most cases the actual fee to the doctor is not where the bulk of your money is going.

By the use of the word "doctors" I am referring to not only doctors but the hospitals, nurses, etc that go with the transplant. I was trying not to confuse you, sorry about that.

As far as right and wrong goes, the right thing to do is to make sure that the donor family gets enough to at least pay for a tombstone. They are the ones grieving, why should they be left out in the cold? You people are heartless.
