i had a near accident when i was 19. drove alot slower nowa days.. but lately, with road rage, everything seems just a bit slow.

My parents got that call when I was 16 and started driving... and the same thing happened. Car was total, flipped completely over in the air and went tumbling down the road... there were car pieces littering the entire road for about a quarter mile. But I didn't get a scratch.

I guess the lord was looking after me (at least, that's what I'd say if I believed in that guy).

I'm at some emergency room.... no i dont know which hospital.... well look on the caller id.... ok thats the one.... no i dont know how to get here.... well i couldnt see out of the back of the ambulance... shit I gotta go the nurses are coming, just bring me some pants ok?

Needless to say, she was a nervous wreck when she got there

No kidding! Glad he's OK. I've gotten that call a few times. Once there were 3 messages on my machine - one from the school he was at (200 miles away), one from the hospital and one from the surgeon. I swear, by the time I got to the 3rd message, I couldn't even breathe.

He totalled my truck in August - the airbags deployed and I think that scared him more than the accident itself.

My Dad says he STILL gets the heebie-jeebies when I call him if something's happened to me and I'm almost 42, so I guess we never grow out it.

My parents got that call when I was 16, but I WAS hurt. My boyfriend was being a showoff and we hit a tree at 135+ MPH. Broke my neck. My mom said the cop said to her when she answered the phone, "Now, don't panic, your daughter has been in a car accident but she's not dead."

LOL! Not dead! Can you imagine what else was running through her head??

She said she was so freaked out that she handed the phone to my dad. They made it to the scene just as the ambulance was leaving so they talked to the cops there for a while and my mom said she nearly threw up when she saw how bad the car was and when she saw the blood on the ground.

But I turned out okay. I can't ride roller coasters anymore and the doctor said if I was ever in a mild car accident again (if the car was hit from a certain angle) I could die. But other than that, I'm peachy.

I hope you never have to hear that one again, hon. Car accidents are a terrifying thing.

I got that same call Tuesday evening, 10 minutes after my parents had left with my son to take him to a book fair.

"Carrie, don't panic. We've been in an accident, but Kelsey's okay..."
I could hear the police sirens screaming by my house as I was hanging up. Needless to say, my big-ass van was going airborne and squealing tires like a muscle car on my way out of the community.

Everyone *was* okay. Dad's truck (big GMC Z71 1500) was just a little bent on the backend and the wheel was scuffed. The car that hit him was folded up like an accordion. I'm shocked the two guys in the car lived through it - thank goodness for airbags.

My 5-yr old took it like a trooper, was just a little startled. With a 5-point harness I don't think he even moved.
