The Phone Call Every Parent Hates to Get

"Mom I was in an accident."

Got that one tonight. Luckily no one was injured. Cops were shaking their heads trying to figure it all out too. Not a scratch on my son, but they say that his car was airborne on its side at some point. 2001 Grand Am..all tricked out ..now likely totalled.

On-top 10-23-2003 12:50 AM

At least everybody is OK. That's most important.

Fletch XXX 10-23-2003 12:50 AM

Hmm im not trying to start anything but he is straight laces

BUT his car was AIRBORN at some point in the wreck so he must of being going pretty fast.

Plus my parents thought i was straight laced ;)

WiredGuy 10-23-2003 12:57 AM

Glad everyone came out ok PK, a car is just that a car, it can be replaced. Children cannot. Good thing everyone came out alive and without injuries...

I could answer that 2 ways..

Answer 1 would be.. I'm never going to die.

Answer 2 would be.. It's true...PK is really just an AI program.

Witnesses put his speed at about 45mph. It was how he slid sideways into the curb that put him airborne. Took out some trees and stuff in the median area (I'm sure the city will send me a bill for that). Started out going eastbound.. ended up in the westbound lanes on the other side of a planted median area facing westbound. Right rear tire was off on the side of the road. Left front tire was bent so that the entire front of the rim was almost touching the pavement. If they don't total it, I'll be surprised.

LoL I'd hate to pay for insurance on a hummer.

Thanks all. When I saw the car and him standing there fine, I lost it. Cops said if he'd hit something just right he would of flipped instead of coming back down rightside up.

johnbosh 10-23-2003 01:10 AM

O was thinking about a whole different story when I read the title, but sorry to hear. Glasd your kid haves nothing (and the others too offcourse)

- Jesus Christ - 10-23-2003 01:12 AM

When I was younger I was in a head on collision with a state trooper
We were both doing over 55.

A mechanic said somone in our car should have died, but like your son, we were all completly fine.

Makes you wonder if there is somone watching over young poeple.

Pornwolf 10-23-2003 01:17 AM

Good to hear he's ok. I'd hate to see his new insurance rates. Ugh!

Glad to hear the youngin' is ok.

WendyB 10-23-2003 01:24 AM

Glad to hear there were no physical injury. We have had some heavy rainfall in my area past couple days, and there has been no shortage of hydroplaning cars up north, here in Snohomish and Skagit counties.

As several have said, vehicles are replaceable...our loved ones are not.

Dawgy 10-23-2003 01:33 AM

wow, glad he's ok *huggles*

and yeah, PK is going to live forever. lol

KaLi 10-23-2003 01:34 AM

It happens... As long as everyone is ok things should be fine.

smack 10-23-2003 01:39 AM

glad to hear everyone is ok. :thumbsup

Furious_Female 10-23-2003 02:32 AM

I'd be pretty shaken up if that happened to me. Thank God no one was hurt :)

Kimmykim 10-23-2003 02:38 AM

Stop that following me around woman! My son got hit by a car last year on his bike, yours are just older and dont pedal!

I know how easy it is to forget that one thing in your life, and I know you don't. You do very well by your boys. I am so glad to hear that its not anything serious, very glad.

4Pics 10-23-2003 02:59 AM

Any pics from a digital cam?

Glad to hear he's ok.

vicki 10-23-2003 05:33 AM

OMG I got a call like that 2 years ago from a neighbor who's farm is 5 miles down the road.
'vicki, your daughter was in a wreck. The car is wrapped around a tree, there's blood everywhere, they've called airlife to the scene .. better get here quick'
I of course drop the phone and as I come over the hill at the scene I see daughter standing dazed by the side of the road waiting for me
I lost it, the relief of seeing her standing there in one piece brought me to my knees in tears.

I'm glad your son is safe also and you are right, its the call every parent dreads.
*hugs*

dantheman 10-23-2003 05:37 AM

pk, I 'm glad that your son and everyone is ok :)

Ross 10-23-2003 05:37 AM

No doubt. He told me he wasn't hurt, but when I drove up and could hardly recognize the car my heart went crazy. He's not up yet this morning (6:45 am here). He'll likely be a bit sore (note I didn't say stiff) this morning.

Thanks all.

On another note. My 16 year old is elated this morning. His '01 Dakota is now in the garage for a while.

Word of the wise from one not much older then yours.... You can't stop us from driving like bats outta hell... but i cannot tell you how many times Pirelli has saved my life... =) Good tires save lives

DrGuile 10-23-2003 07:04 AM

Very happy for you he's ok.

Got lucky this time...

Maybe buying him a hot-rod is not such a great idea...

HAHAHAHAHA probably the best thing she could have done for him... imagine what happens when he wraps a 91 bronco... *squish*.

Brad-Wishing 10-23-2003 07:08 AM

I was just in an accident. I rolled my jeep end over end 4 times. I was all upset about my jeep cause it was lifted and nice big tires etc.

I was complaining to the cop how the jeep was a mashed mess.

She said: "You know... you should be happy you're alive. Because I have no idea how you made it out of there."

I shut up then. :1orglaugh

hehe it wasn't a hot rod. It was a 2001 Grand Am SE.. 4 cylinder, 4 door. Got it cause it looks like a sports car but isn't in the sports car insurance category.

The one to worry about is my 16 year old. 01 Dodge Dakota pick up with a small block V-8, a performance chip, and a flowmaster on it. It's da rumble machine.

I'm glad to hear your son wasn't hurt. It's a reminder of how easily the ones we love can be taken from us, and how we must make the most of our time with them.

Mine is no virgin. I have no end of fun finding condom wrappers under his car seats and digging them out and 'just the right' moment. He's been with the same girl for almost 3 years now. If they hadn't had sex I'd be wondering what was wrong.
