My parents got that call when I was 16, but I WAS hurt. My boyfriend was being a showoff and we hit a tree at 135+ MPH. Broke my neck. My mom said the cop said to her when she answered the phone, "Now, don't panic, your daughter has been in a car accident but she's not dead."
LOL! Not dead! Can you imagine what else was running through her head??
She said she was so freaked out that she handed the phone to my dad. They made it to the scene just as the ambulance was leaving so they talked to the cops there for a while and my mom said she nearly threw up when she saw how bad the car was and when she saw the blood on the ground.
But I turned out okay. I can't ride roller coasters anymore and the doctor said if I was ever in a mild car accident again (if the car was hit from a certain angle) I could die. But other than that, I'm peachy.
I hope you never have to hear that one again, hon. Car accidents are a terrifying thing.
