Being perceived as a "foe" of the US is an irrelevance to many other nations - they have no axe to grind and have other concerns and priorities to deal with. This "foe" term is.. lets call it one of these simplistic US tools used by the current "thing" in Washington. They are certainly not "foes", but at the same time, on many levels, just cannot trust or deal with the US Admin on ... hate to say this... but *any* subject. This is not a good situation to be in for any country when others have to keep checking the validity of any information from the President's Office. I think most would at least expect that *some* level of truth should come from there.

On repercussions, there are many, many levels and in many areas where this has already started - excluding the increased potential of "terrorist" attack.

A simple example is economic.. in reality, any sane person does not want to see damage to the US in this area. But, in the "real world" when faced with decisions re investment in the US, there is a problem. Even I know of several people who control commercial activities internationally, and they either have acted already or have cut down their involvement in the US. These folks have more money than God *s* - so if I know a couple, there is little doubt there are a lot, lot more thinking the same when it comes to their investors money.

Half the bonds in the US are foreign owned along with 10% of the Wall Street Ponzi Scheme and billions more in various areas. They have already lost, along with many US folks, 50% of their Ponzi Scheme investments due to total lack on controls on corporates within the US, the dismal failure of the SEC and blatant fraud, - although in several instances, it is "legal fraud".
To blame 9/11 for this situation, yes it helped well, and most folks understand this and wipe their faces of the loss, - but in the undercurrent there is a much bigger problem than 9/11.

The Admin have had more than ample chance to demonstate some degree of ability in fiscal policy, but have, literally... totally failed. No "wars" and any rhetoric can cover the real situation.

It is very hard to credit that *anyone* in the Whitehouse can ignore the US economic condition - and wipe it away by the repetitive use of "keywords" in speeches to show concern. ie.. "create jobs", "stong economy", "growth" blah. Sounds like spam to me - search engines ban ya for that shit!

There are also reports from several, financially experienced and reputable sources, that this, apparent distruction, of the US economy is intentional of the part of the Admin. Nothing would be a surprise after the track record the Admin have shown - there is always more than meets the eye.

That old totally absurd cliche, "you are either with us or you are against us" or a "foe" just don't hold water. Other nations have more to concern themselves with than bother about the US. At the same time, it is rare to see many that would wish to see any harm done to the US.

Life is more complex than "with or against". The US Admin need to recognize they cannot be limited to the simplistic issuing "threats" and "warnings" to other countries - without general international support and cooperation, there is little left for the US. There is always a load of scrap metal in the form of missles of course, but they don't change the way people and countries think.

If he gained support and justification by providing false or inflated information to those who "ok'ed" the war, then he would basically be declaring war through aggression.. with no real reason other than the fact that he didn't like Hussein.. as he stated shortly before the war, "He tried to kill my dad." .. and with that, he could be guilty of war crimes.

The WMD deal was his 'justification for war', yet they've found none. So, to this point, it can be looked at as false justification.

There are several organizations that are already presenting the International Court with legal petitions stating war crimes have been committed by the USA. It is meaningless. The USA is not a signatory thus does not have to comply with the International Court even if indictments were made by the court... and even if the USA were a signatory the USA certainly would not comply with any indictments for war crimes...let alone allowing the President to appear before the court as a war criminal.

Imformed by being there, nothing more than that. I spent a couple months installing comm infrastrucure at the airport. As far as I know, all we have found is support material indicating a chemical program was active in Iraq until the weeks before the war. Unfortunately, its not the kind of proof that will satisfy many. Highly discouraging.

On a side note, I don't need to see the WMD and fully believe we should take preemptive measures when need be. We can't wait for unfirendly countries to develop weapons that can reach the mainland before we act. North Korea can now reach Cali with nukes. Look up the phsycological profile of the guy with the power to launch...scares the hell out of me. But little we can do since they already have nuclear capability. It changes the poker game.

To further complicate matters, worse than these guys having these weapons, is their willingness to sell it to organizations, not countries, willing to use them. Think Osama would use a WMD if he could get one? I do.

US media are a bunch of sheep, and mostly controlled by big corporations who have no interest in seeing Bush humiliated.

It was most noticable during the war, when you'd think you were following two different wars when looking at US (and to a lesser extend UK) media or for news sources from continental Europe for instance.

Even UK media are starting to get significantly more critical - with for instance the Independent leading with "Case for war blown apart" as their top story today. In the rest of Europe the media is quite a big tougher than that...

Those "hippie crackhead" theories are pretty easy to check. Look up ownership details of the 10-20 largest newspapers, TV stations and radio stations, and you will see that most of them are in fact being controlled by a few multinationals, and it's a relatively easy thing to get personal profiles on the major investors in those companies, most of which stand to make millions through tax cuts etc. thanks to Bush.

And some, like Rupert Murdoch, are infamous for directly interfering in the journalism of the media outlets they own - in Murdoch's case down to the level of refusing to run stories and firing journalists and editors who have presented views he doesn't like. It's worth reading a couple of Rupert Murdoch biographies.

It has nothing to do with government conspiracies, and everything to do with the fact that most major media outlets are owned by corporations with a duty to follow the wishes of their board and shareholders, who have very high likelihood of having personal or economical reasons to stay behind Bush. At least until he becomes unpopular enough that he's a liability in the fight for viewers, listeners and readers - at that point they'll be on him like vultures.

Media is giving people two things: What people will buy, and (secondarily) what will influence society in ways preferred by their major shareholders, who tend to be conservative middle aged rich white men.
