stop taking anything sweet with your coffee....it will suck for 2 weeks but then you will adapt...you will not crave sugar in your coffee at all but you have to endure for 2 weeks without anything...all them artificial sweetners taste like crap anyway...

artificial sweetners taste like crap they ruin the whole coffee...they somehow kill the taste of the coffee beans for me and it becomes like drinking some strange plant thing...then the taste of the sweetener lingers in your mouth for hours...it tastes so artificial it makes me want to puke...tried 2-3 different ones, can not decide which one is worse...

Xylitol does raise your blood sugar.

Stevia and Erythritol don't, but they don't taste quite as much like sugar as Xylitol does.

All the others, honey etc. still contain sugar.

stevia, ugh. granted my taste buds are super sensitive but man that stuff tastes what I imagine sugar would after a week in the bottom of a sweaty shoe in a closet full of rotten eggs. some peeps don't mind it though. just be warned

I very rarely use sweeteners but I like splenda (just a smidge, it's really strong) on my watermelon if the melon isn't a great one. it doesn't have a discernible taste of its own in small doses and has no effect on blood sugar (just looked that up actually as that's not personally a concern of mine)

if you're not having issues with insulin or wanting to cut calories/lose weight, why stress over one or two spoonfuls of sugar a day in something you enjoy? in an otherwise healthy lifestyle I can't imagine it would make any sort of difference

you can def train your tastebuds to crave sweet tastes less, just don't think a little bit of sugar will hurt you if you're not drinking tons of coffee. if you are, three words:

Monster Absolute Zero. that shit is the nectar of the gods it tastes so good and it's full of caffeine with zero cals. and B vitamins so it's really health food you see

This post was pasted to me in PM. Type 2 diabetic and I took a class last week on diabetic diets to stay off my meds. No insulin because just a pill suffices for me.

Anyway, I’ve always used Splenda. No aftertaste, no sugar spike and a little goes far. I’ve used it for cooking and baking in place of sugar.

If you only use sugar in coffee and have just one cup a day, keep using sugar. It’s healthier than artificial sweeteners, sixteen calories per teaspoon and four grams of sugar nutritionally. You can also use one teaspoon sugar and one teaspoon Splenda. That way you cut back your sugar intake and lessen your chemical intake.

Stevia was recommended to me in 1995 by a health guru in Atlanta. Back then it was not so artificial.

Xylitol, sorbitol, maltitol and other “tols” must be used sparingly. Excessive consumption will cause severe cramping, gas and diarrhea, plus the worst painful cramps ever. Ask anyone who has experienced the after effects of tols. I could share stories ...

Coconut products have saturated fat though small amounts.

If you use creamer, try the new Splenda creamer. It sweetens your liquid without adding sugar. I drink iced tea every day and generally use Crystal Light or equivalent. For my iced coffee I use Splenda and flavoring. I bought half gallons of Dunkin mocha flavor and it’s now in squirt bottles. Not high in sugar but high in cost. $40 but most on eBay get $55 plus shipping.

Sweet ‘n Low causes cancer in laboratory animals. Look up the ingredients and avoid.

I think as long as something is sweet it'll spike insulin. Since sugar alternatives are supposedly far sweeter than sugar, you might be better off sticking with the sugar.
