There's so many holes in this study. Illegal immigrants do not report crimes for fear of deportation. So one could rightly assume these figures are flawed on that alone. Plus the fact they stated they had to more or less "guess" the figure of illegals locked up. And then you have those many instances where the illegal is allowed to walk simply because he/she is an illegal and the officer/city/county/state etc doesn't want to deal with it.

Most usually, if an illegal immigrant commits a major crime in the United States, he (or she) is tried in the state court where the crime was committed and after being found guilty is sent to a prison in the state where he was convicted. He will be deported back to his home country when he is released from prison.
