I had an 87 firebird formula 5.7... my first car, but i got it when it was already 11 years old.. either way, fun, but the insurance on it (being 19, in NY), was just ridiculous. I loved the last gen they came out with (98 and up style)... Im sure they will bring both lines back maybe in a few years, when the sports car market recovers from all this suv bullshit.

That is mint. My Camaro came with a 5.7. Anyhow, after I was done with it, it was a 355 and had, aluminium angle plug heads, gear drive (it made a nice sound), Merlin block with angled main studs, eagle rods, 12:1 popup pistons, and to top it off a 1250 CFM Daemon Carb? and so on.

1987. You can always tell because the 1987 is the only year with a totally black grill. 15 year old wanting a GN? I know I wanted one since the day my father looked at them at the Buick dealership in 1984 (I was 9 years old).

I also know that at 16 I was WAY too stupid to have such a car. I would be careful even thinking about getting a fast car for a young man. Start him off with a 4 banger so he doesn't kill himself or someone else. I think of all of the stupid shit I did in my first car (1988 Beretta GT which was only a 6 cylinder and slow as hell) and it's a wonder I am still here today.

At 16 there are going to be some fender benders at least and it would be a shame to have a Grand National or a Chevelle (I saw the 454 Chevelle you posted some time ago *schwing*) dented up. Let him beat the crap out of a used Honda and once he gets the hang of driving and proves himself responsible then think about getting him a real car. :2 cents:

I know I know.. but you of course know how teen boys love to dream about cars.

His friend had a run in with a brick wall on Saturday evening with my son in the car. Kinda woke my son up a bit.

He swerved to avoid my 18 year old who slammed on his brakes when someone cut a corner as my son was coming up to a stop sign. Poor cheap Ford Probe now has a bent frame and is headed for the junk yard. At least it wasn't the kid's 67 Mustang he's been fixing up for 3 years.

They are grouchy. High 14's stock but in my case I have dumped a little over $3k into the car (previous owner did some work too) and it's in the low 11's on street tires. I haven't tried the slicks on a track yet but I suspect I could see 11.0 or possibly even 10.90. I love beating up on some of these arrogant pricks with their Corvettes, BMWs, and assorted ricers.

Validus 04-14-2003 10:59 AM

Ok, please confirm that that black car up there does low 11?s? mc Z28 had 525 HP and pulled the front right tire of the ground.. but did.. low 12?s?. how about a dyno print?

Yep, all teens dream of cars. I still have a model of a '69 Yenko Camaro sitting on my bookshelf...someday... http://www.yenko.net/reunion/Ld02.JPG

It's never been to a dyno...not as long as I have owned it anyway. I guarantee with some traction you'd see some light under the wheel(s) but again I had to run it at the track last year with street tires so my ET was not nearly what it could have been.

And please...it's a Grand National...not just "that black car".

Validus 04-14-2003 11:14 AM

Just one more... these cobras just get me going... and.. think.. just about 150K for one of these...

I like the BMW nice one :-) Not a fan of them.. avalanches..

Jakke PNG 04-14-2003 01:53 PM

my ricer to be completed on may 1st (outside will be completed, not interior). :(

http://www.jesterdesigns.com/GFYshit/ricer.jpg

Those pics are a few weeks old. I got it from the garage today. The engine is a bit off, so it will have to be rechipped and such.. but it's a joyful little car. All parts ('cept for the rear spoiler) are hand built. Feel the love. I also feel that every front-wheel drive ricer must have a huge wing. :)
