I have an Exploder and a Ranger and I think I'm going to sell the Ranger to my kid (since he wrecked it putting $3800 damage on it 2 months after I bought it - let HIM suffer the depreciation on it :winkwink: ), trade the Exp. in for an F150 crewcab and get a Wrangler for running around town. But I'm worried I'm too spoiled after driving loaded SUV's. :( How rough is it? |

I love my Jeep... would not have anything else. My girlfriend has a F150.. comfortable but big and cumbersome to drive. Excellent sound system in it (my upgrade not factory) I only have the soft top but have the glass window doors in case I want to put a hard top on it... I have not had my top on for about 2 months now so.... kinda pointless for me to spend the money on it at this point. However when it hits 110 out here in the desert.,.. may be a different story. Noise? Very noise with the top down. The soundbar helps but their is not much bass in the 5 1/4" speakers, you will need a sub-woofer if you want any bass in your music. I put a Sony Xplode CD in it and a sub and with the soundbar and the volume at 22, I hear the music pretty good but nothing else :) SUV's are good, but not too safe unless you get the BMW which has the highest safety rating... do not know how safe the JEep is but it has a roll cage. Been in some pretty hairy situations and have not rolled it .... (yet). :) Gas milage is about 17 hwy, same as our f150, but with a smaller tank... always putting gas in it. The short wheelbase on the Jeep makes for excellent climbing and since it is compact... it goes anywhere. Great turning radius too. If you are into off roading... Get the Jeep, It will blow away anything else on the road except for the Hummer (1 or 2). Price is reasonable... new around 23,000.00 I got an 02 with 7,000 miles for 20,000. Automatic (wanted stick). If you have any other questions... I would love to talk... ICQ me or email me from one of the links below. If you are in the Phoenix area... I can take you out for an off raod test drive to see if you like it. They are a bit bouncy... but mostly off road, on the street they are pretty smooth. :winkwink: John |

I'm not really "into" off roading, I just live where I need a 4X4. I bought the Ranger because I needed a truck, but I bought it with a 2WD thinking it wouldn't be that big a deal since the Exp. is 4X4, but this is my driveway: http://www.onlinebeach.com/streetup01.jpg We have to load the Ranger up with about 250 pounds of sand, then floor it. I know it's tearing up the transmission, and since after it gets up the driveway my kid drives it to school 120 miles RT, the gas mileage sucks with 250 extra pounds in the bed, lol! I figure if I can get it off the mountains in the next 2 years before the warranty expires, I'll be ok. :winkwink: So I figure I can get the 150 for hauling and "nice" trips, and then the Wrangler for everyday.:) Thanks again - I do want to come to Phoenix to bother KK, so I might take you up on the test drive! |
WOW that is some hill....
Yea, the Jeep would take that no problem.... and no sand. You should see some of the steep grades I can get up, lots of rock and loose gravel too. Sure, anytime you want... just let me know when you are in town :) |

I am debating on getting myself one of these bad boys. It looks pretty cool, and? well I love those things. I had a electric truck when I was in high school and it was fun.

I'll NEVER grow grass there - I have almost 2 acres (hopefully buying another 1.5 acres soon....) and it can all be mowed with a weedeater in less than 20 minutes. I'm old - I do the "no muss, no fuss" lifestyle. Kids aren't allowed. :) |
