Epassporte

So anyhow, I decide I'm going to grab a personal Epassporte account to see what a customer goes through if they want to use this payment option or be a cardholder.

So I'm filling out the form, pretty simple, self explanitory, okay.. Give it my CC # and all that fun stuff

Quote:
Your transaction has been declined because your issuing bank does not support CVV2/CVC2. Please contact your issuing bank at the number on the back of your credit card. All banks are required to support CVV2/CVC2.
Now, this can't be right. I've been using this credit card to make purchases online since CVV2 auth started pretty much, I know my bank supports it. Maybe it was an uhoh. So I try again. Same thing.

Okay, went and called my issuing bank (Royal Bank). They show two authorize requests from Epassporte that both went through. Okay, something's broken but nothing's perfect, let's call Epassporte.

Clicked the contact button and grabbed their Toll Free # (USA and Canada). Doesn't work in Canada. Okay, went back and grabbed their direct dial #. So they answer and I must say they were extremely helpful in getting a trouble ticket issued and very friendly.

Even though I've had some trouble getting setup (and it isn't resolved) their telephone support gets a total from me. I'll be sure to follow up when they get back to me tomorrow.

Man, that's exactly the same thing I have been going through with them. Tried it 2 times, failed both times. Finally gave up and moved on. I have talked to them on the phone and still no joy. I guess I am going to be using http://www.yambo.biz for some of the things I planned to use epassporte for.

Well... I get:

Your transaction has been declined by your bank.
Hit the back button to try again with another credit card.

This really sucks, is there anything I can do about it?

I have some credit cards that normally work in real life and I know nothing about CVV1, CVV2 and CVV3. So WTF is this and what is the difference between CVV1 and CVV2 ??

Me and a friend have same issue too:

Your transaction has been declined because your issuing bank does not support CVV2/CVC2. Please contact your issuing bank at the number on the back of your credit card. All banks are required to support CVV2/CVC2.

We both are using spanish banks credit cards that are used at tons of site online without problems filling the CVV2 field, like at paypal etc so the problem is not on our cards or banks but on epassporte. Seems the problem is for non USA cards/banks.
I have emailed epassporte but the answer was not a valid solution for me so will look for another option.

Here is the answer:

Quote:
Dear Sir/Madam:

Every credit card is required to have a 3-digit CVV2, however not every financial institution supports it. For security purposes, if your financial institution does not support the CVV2 you will be unable to enroll for an Epassporte account. We apologize for the inconvenience, however you may want to try a different credit/debit card and/or contact your financial institution for further details and assistance.

The CVV2 code is printed on any MasterCard, Visa & Discover cards in the signature area of the card. It is the 3 letters or numbers AFTER the credit card number in the signature area of the card.

Epassporte is great just needs a way to transfer funds to and from bank accounts, preferably free to withdraw funds to a bank account. How much is the daily ATM withdrawel amount? Most ATM cards are like $300. If there was no limit this would help out until as such time a transfer to bank account system is set up.

Well, I always have these three numbers located on reverse side of my Visa. I thought this is CVV1 code. So what is CVV1 then?

You read my mind. I know what is CVV2 and have filled it at any form at onlyne payments and never was refussed unless at epassporte, but seems epassporte doesn't need us "non usa" webmasters.

Well, considering they were successful in authorizing the amount on my credit card, it does appear that my bank supports CVV2, no? (My bank sure as hell says they do). So hopefully Epassporte can sort out whatever difficulties they're having in their backend and get things sorted out. Their system is actually really cool (Once you understand it) so I'm looking forward to giving it a test drive.

Well it's been 48 hours and I still haven't heard back from them. They asked me specifically not to call back as they'd be contacting me within 12 - 24 hours.

Well, I got a response from them regarding my trouble ticket. Apparently my bank doesn't support CVV2 (Didn't their error message say that?) and I'm invited to sign up using a different card (Didn't their error message say that?).

Funny, my bank says they're full of shit.

LOL, read my post, got same aswer from them, seems not any foreign banck support CVV2 even when our banks said they do and when we haven't any problem at any other site that also require CVV2.
It's a great idea but i hope some things will change soon and this issues will be fixed if they want us non usa webmasters.

Well , I faced some problems also but it was not about my CC. In order to add funds in your account, you have to register a credit card in the system and in order to do that, they take some money from your card and ask you how much they took from your card and they want you to answer that question in 48 hours.

Well, which CC company or bank give you the statements in 48 days. Normally it takes up to a week to see how much they charged from your card. I was able to register but I wasn't able to activate a credit card because of that.

I think they have to be a little bit more flexible in their system.

Funny, it's unlikely the CS drone you spoke to has any inkling whatsoever what their CC processing software supports or doesn't support properly.

This error is common, and it's NOT a problem with Epassporte - these banks HAVE CVV2, and CLAIM to support them, but they don't - at least not in the software backend where it counts.

I've talked with the programmers of Epassporte quite a lot about these issues, and I know a little about it myself, having been a professional programmer for about 12 years now.

The banks are always going to tell you it's not their fault. In this case they are wrong. Sorry.

(I am not an Epassporte rep - they'll be much nicer. ;>)

Cheers,
Backov

Well i have been mainly doing the spanish biz 5 years without any problem and i own a dialer company here. No problems at all regards the adult biz, it's totally legal while you pay your taxes

I went 2 weeks to Ibiza las summer, really amazing beaches, the best i have been ever in Spain as long as Almeria. Also party the whole night at the beach or disco, if you like electronic music that is the paradise. As a rock/metal guy i went there for the beaches not for the music, but the party was impressive to watch anyway, semi-nude chicks dancing at the street, using masks etc, something you must see.

OK. Let me try to make sense of this for you.

There are several types of messages that come back from a bank when trying to approve a card using CVV2. Depending on the processor, some will go through and some will not.

For example:

*Unsupported: Bank not compliant with Visa CVV2 authorization.

*Unmatched: Means that what you entered is not what the bank says it should be.

*Matched: Good transaction. CVV2 approved.

*Not Processed: Not sure about this one, but probably a general tech failure response.

*Unavailable: Bank not responding to request.

Depending on the merchant (or processor), some of these responses might be approved.

In a high risk space, currently, epassporte only allows a "matched" response for approval. Period.
Any other response is not accepted.

Since this is an obvious issue that is causing issuance declines, epassporte is looking at other ways of qualifying the load card.

For now, the system must work the way it is supposed to or the tran is not approved. All banks are supposed to be CVV2 compliant and we can tell you from experience that they are not.

Epassporte will also soon allow other funding methods which will help.

Oh yeah, and we are soon to release the functionality of moving funds from epassporte to your bank account. No, I don't have the date.... yet.

Thanks for the good words Jact. I'll see what's up with your customer service request.

There is not a limit imposed by epassporte.

However, there may be one on the individual ATM.

Transferring funds from epassporte to your bank account will relieve this issue once this feature is avaialbe.
Not yet. Coming soon.

Wouldn't you prefer a commercial account as opposed to a personal account anyway?
You fund a commercial account via wire transfer.
Might work better for you.

Interested???

KRL -- Did you try any other credit card from another bank perhaps? I am curious to know.

Hey... it couldn't hurt. The bottom line is you need answers.

We'll get back to you.

I'll see what's up with your customer service request.

hi rand

*Unsupported: Bank not compliant with Visa CVV2 authorization.
