1) Put out a white flag or whatver the fuck you have which is white when you get within sight of the checkpoint.

2) Slow the fuck down and do not come flying at these people assigned to protect the checkpoint from the bad guys.

3) Why the fuck are these people speeding towards a checkpoint anyways? im sure that had they slowed down to a normal speed and not posed a direct threat they would have not been shot.

4) these are people saddam has probably paid off (or their familys) . These people may not do any damage to the military or blow shit up but they do do damage to the actual Popularity of the war. More Yodles saying "More innocent people dead".

How about if some POS with a possible bomb was driving towards a nuclear reactor in the USA and blew right by the checkpoint? Do you want to let him crash into the plant and possibly blow it up then ask questions?

actually I think spaceace and that site are making a very clear relation to what iraq calls civillian casualties and what were actually iraq standard and non standard troops.

I think this has a whole helluva lot to do with culture.

Kinda like the kid I saw on the Frontline documentary about Afghanistan before we went into Afghanistan.

Anyway, the camera is filming this kid who's sitting on this donkey looking right into the lens...a shell of some kind lands about 100 yards behind the kid the camera man jumps, the kid doesn't even flinch.

Now you look at video being shot presently in Iraq...you see coalition soldiers fighting with Iraqi soldiers/militia and right in the middle of the battle here comes some guys just taking a stroll through the neighborhood laughing it up...seriously.

Okay, I can understand those that are fleeing who might get caught up in some crossfire, but you can clearly see those who are NOT fleeing, just out to see a bit of action.

I however in a time of war, if I am not fighting to defend my country would not be out fucking around with the guys on Friday, that's for sure.

Back when they were taking a look at the possible Muslimistic undertones of a red state flag. Putting Kurds on checkpoints would have EVERY car being shot up. What part of 'they don't get along is so hard to grasp?' It's a terrible thing that happened but it WILL as long as the people there don't heed the check points. The soldiers did exactly what they were trained to do. Few of the people posting here would even have the nerve to go thru the warning steps. You'd have been spraying bullets from the start. They may NOT understand English (surprisingly MANY do) but language isn't a barrier when the entire population knows what is going on, AND what to expect the minute they go out their doors. Do you think they aren't talking among themselves?? Read the articles closer, they know what is happening faster than some of the soldiers do, just from word of mouth. Kinda like the kid I saw on the Frontline documentary about Afghanistan before we went into Afghanistan. Anyway, the camera is filming this kid who's sitting on this donkey looking right into the lens...a shell of some kind lands about 100 yards behind the kid the camera man jumps, the kid doesn't even flinch. Now you look at video being shot presently in Iraq...you see coalition soldiers fighting with Iraqi soldiers/militia and right in the middle of the battle here comes some guys just taking a stroll through the neighborhood laughing it up...seriously. Okay, I can understand those that are fleeing who might get caught up in some crossfire, but you can clearly see those who are NOT fleeing, just out to see a bit of action.
