Putting Kurds on checkpoints would have EVERY car being shot up. What part of 'they don't get along is so hard to grasp?'
It's a terrible thing that happened but it WILL as long as the people there don't heed the check points. The soldiers did exactly what they were trained to do. Few of the people posting here would even have the nerve to go thru the warning steps. You'd have been spraying bullets from the start.
They may NOT understand English (surprisingly MANY do) but language isn't a barrier when the entire population knows what is going on, AND what to expect the minute they go out their doors. Do you think they aren't talking among themselves?? Read the articles closer, they know what is happening faster than some of the soldiers do, just from word of mouth. This is how they survive a dictatorship. Word of mouth.
