and how much is the US giving this great former union of yours in handouts? I'd be embarrassed to take handouts. I'm guessing this is the real reason for the euro-pansy hatred of the US. Embarrassment over needing our handouts ![]()

Kiss goodbye Motorola, it's way down and bankcrupt soon so better sell your stocks and prepare to buy a Nokia next time.
Besides , the points in the post were not to be taken literally, but since you took them as such, I guess it only reflects the level of your brain action |

As far as your comment that Soviet Regime not so bad, that is plain nuts. Just look at the facts. During cold war, how many people risk their lives to escape soviet russia and its puppet states compared to how many people flee America and western europe to go to Russia. No comparisan. If Russia economy is worse now than under Soviets, its not fault of America or Western Europe. Its because Russian society is totally corrupt and controlled by mobsters. |

just some interesting things here. my info could be wrong, but according to sources on the net (including computerhistory.org and pbs), here's some interesting things:
the internet was first conceptualized at MIT in the late 50's, early 60's. most of the internet sources after that are US-based, however i'm sure if i dug harder, i can find something that isn't. as far as the first "computer" goes, that dates back to around 3000 bc - the abacus. it does appear that a german scientist developed the first basic calculator. it appears that the british built "colossus", the first computer built for artillery calculations, however it was researched and concieved at the Ballistics Research Laboratory in Maryland, and built/finished University of Pennsylvania's Moore School of Electrical Engineering, completed in 1945. bell telephone developed the transistor in 1947, and we know what that leads to. in 1952 a brit named Dummer concieved the integrated circuit, but his design fails. in 1959 Texas Instruments and Fairchild semiconductor deliver the first integrated circuit. in 1964 IBM releases the 360, which quickly becomes the standard for mainframes in institutions. by the mid 80's ibm makes $100 billion for the 360 and its descendents just thought i'd throw out some interesting info

oh yeah, according to the timeline on the computer museum in nova scotia, the whole timeline is pretty much US-driven, including the first microprocessor, the 4004 by intel.

I am not saying that the Soviet Regime was better than the democracy in United States, all I am saying, that the living conditions were much much better during the Soviet era, than right now, where old people and the population in general is starving there. Exactly, Russia right now is run by mobsters, it is because the Soviet regime is not there anymore. Who in the hell gave you the idea that the U.S. supplied arms to Russia??? That is even funny. Russia always had and has a huge military arsenal, actually all that the Soviet Union did was to make tanks, guns ect.. The question still stands, who first entered Berlin???? |

I assume that you do keep an eye on the US economic situation? If the US keeps making more and more debts like they do now, they will be the one asking for handouts. So enjoy the time you can still live of your creditcards Ronny. What do you think happens when the US can no longer fund their large military? They lose their position as military super power, which is the only reason other nations accept the shit the US throws at them. |

President Bush probably thinks that larger military spending must be met with large tax cuts.
Enjoy it now my American friends, after a few years it can be late |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by theking It is difficult for me to understand why some of you people are so obessed with PF. It is difficult for me to understand why you cannot accept the fact that a seventy year old man died of a stroke. Doing a quick search of PF's posts I quickly found at least one post where he had spoke about having had strokes. On 07-02-2002 PF posted this and actually understated the extent of damage that having strokes had caused him. He had many strokes over a period of several years. It was clear to those that knew him that his memory had been affected, but probably not as clear to those that did not know him as he would have appeared to still be sharp to them. The last stroke that he had prior to his death left him partially paralyzed and with slurred speech. The doctor had told us that he would undoubedtly have a stroke that would kill him and there was not alot that could be done about it. We, the family, were prepared for his death on any given day. He also was a diabetic. At least two people that are members of this board knew him (three counting me) and at least one other member other than myself has posted that he is in fact dead. Read it, learn it, know it and get the fuck over it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Pathfinder Actually this is new information that I cannot recall ever hearing about. I am old and I have had a few minor strokes that have affected my memory to some extent, so I am not intellectually as sharpe as I used to be. It is possible that this info disappeared as did the "piano lessons". I am intrigued by it and will read some more about it. One thing I did run across on one of the links: http://www.thethresher.com/indiscreet.html "The most frequently cited and circulated source of Bush-Nazi investigations/conspiranoia, George Bush-The Unauthorized Biography (a biography of George Herbert Walker Bush) by Webster Griffin Tarpley and Anton Chaitkin, published in 1992, while well-documented, is also the most suspect. The problem is that Tarpley and Chaitkin are colleagues of the political cult leader Lyndon LaRouche. Not surprisingly, they insist on overlaying otherwise solidly researched data with wildly speculative interpretations. The book, originally published by LaRouche's Executive Intelligence Review, though "out of print," is ubiquitous on the web, and freely used and quoted by Bush conspiranoia buffs of all persuasions." This makes me think that alot of what is said about this subject will have to be taken with a grain of salt, but apparently the government did take control of the company. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for the compliment. PF was a great man, a unique man, a mans man, and a warrior. I have spent most of my life trying to emmulate him (unsuccessfully I might add), may he rest in peace.

So what if Red Army first to enter Berlin. What about the rest of Europe? Which army was first to enter Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, and 100's of other European town and cities. Thank God it was the Americans. Look at the countries which the Soviets entered. ie. Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania, East Germany etc. During Soviet occupation what was their experience? I have met 100's of people who escaped Eastern Europe during soviet rule and they all say the same thing. Life under the soviets was horrible. Compare that to the countries the U.S. entered, ie. France, Holland, Belgium, West Germany, Italy, etc. What was their experience? It was much much much better. ie. freedom and prosperity. Yes compared to the Nazis, the Soviets were better, but compared to western democratic countries, such as U.S., Canada, U.K., France etc. the Soviets were evil and despotic. If Russia has problems now its because of its own failings. Russia needs to rid itself of corruption. Russians need to learn how to do business honestly. Why do you think so many sponsors ban Russian webmasters? Do you see any sponsors banning American webmasters? |

Here's the simple test for rating "good" countries: Simply look at which countries have people immigrating vs. which countries have people emmigrating. If people flee a country in droves it is a "bad" country. If they flock to a country it is a "good" country.
