After hearing Bush speak this evening I am proud our government
will not take part in an assalt on Iraq.

Rather than rise above the terrorists that attack it, the USA is lowering the bar further by disregarding the very rules of international conduct it has been espousing since 1945. This disregard for what amounts to the last shreds of civilized law is on a par with Nazi Germany's walkout of the League of Nations.
The business in his speech about how "willing nations" somehow
have rights beyond any UN resolutions invites some pedestrian "triumph des willens" comparisons.

Saddam is a bad guy, and he should go. But not like this. America can not build a better world by solely removing those who disagree with them while allowing the excesses of "free" governments.

And now that the UN has been officially rendered useless those peoples who have genuine cases of oppression (Tibet etc.) can kiss their hopes good bye as it is now acceptible for aggressor states to dispose of lesser peoples who may not share the same cuture, language or values.

You know a year or so ago there was a huge scandal here in Canada. The treasury lost a billion bucks, and they never found out where it went.

Canada is one of the most mismanaged countries in the world.

There are numerous reasons why we're going to war with Iraq and defending Israel is not one of them. We've sent troops to defend muslims during four conflicts but not once to defend Israel against hostile Arab neighbors.

The U.S. needs a strong military presence in the Middle East. And, right now we rely heavily on the Saudis. We don't want to. They're a corrupt nation that breads little anti-american future terrorists. Moreover, troops in Saudi Arabia, home of Islam's holiest places (yeah, btw....Jerusalem is not one of them), Mecca, Medina, etc. has long been seen as a provocation against Islam.

So let's get the fuck out and set up shop in secular Iraq.

You know a year or so ago there was a huge scandal here in Canada. The treasury lost a billion bucks, and they never found out where it went. Canada is one of the most mismanaged countries in the world. Airport tax, shit ours was $20 bucks or so, how much was it in the US? Hmm I think $5 or 7 american.

The Canadian government could decide to bring the troops back home, if the U.S. goes to war. But defence analyst David Rudd says that could have long-term consequences for the Canadian military. Rudd says some of the troops are filling important jobs in the U.S. forces. Pulling them out, says Rudd, might not be wise. "It says Canada is not a reliable ally. It also says that in a time of crisis and time of war we are prepared to leave our allies short-handed." But NDP leader Jack Layton says if any potential war against Iraq happens without United Nations approval, no Canadians should be involved. "It doesn't matter if it's 10 or 10,000, if war is illegal no Canadians should be there." All bombing iraq is gonna do is give terrorists more of a reason to justify their attacks (obviously they're wrong but if it was you in iraq when you kids school gets bombed wouldnt you want revenge at all costs?) North korea is a much larger threat than Iraq...I wonder what the real motive is in attacking Iraq. Everyone whos on the side of the US is just kissing ass, shit bush is giving them money in exchange for support, that is wrong in my opinion. One more thing, in canada we spend are tax money on health care not millitary...sorry.
