That statement does make sense. It's easy to act like Saddam is just misunderstood, but try having to live next door to an unstable asshole who is willing to slaughter his neighbors (and his own family members, read the news) and use chemical weaponry on his own people.
For those of you who aren't paying attention and like to think Saddam is real popular over there, what happened in southern Iraq immediately following the Gulf War? Anyone? Anyone? They didn't want to be under Saddam's rule again and fought tooth and nail to keep him from returning to his position of power. That revolt was put down with great brutality.
