I might cry about it though if it's a fucked up law.

Problem is most laws are very vague... As we have seen in this thread -- cops can twist the truth, plant weapons, etc...

PLUS you got real subjective laws -- like weapon laws that allow the officer to consider any object threatening -- and laws that gives cops the right to harrass people minding their own business if the cop "feels the person is an immediate threat to the surrounding property or people in the area" -- which is more subjective bullshit...

Bottom line is cops can fuck with whoever they want, regardless of the "law"... If they don't like how you look or maybe they just have PMS -- you are fucked.

No, but once I got out of a "no proof of insurance" ticket. It was a highway patrol officer who pulled me over and I didn't have my insurance card in my car, it was at home. The officer told me the fine for proof of insurance was a lot , around 1k, so if I knew for sure that it was at my house, he would follow me in his car to my house so I can show him. My house was around 10-15 min away, and he followed me to my apartment. He even poked his head inside my messy place and asked me if I lived all by myself and I told him yes. I found the insurance card, showed it to him, and that was that.

I agree with you on the ?weed in your pocket? theory. I believe any one in prison for drug consumption convictions are not criminals. They might be sick and need treatment, but for damn sure not criminals.

Possession of a controlled substance = crime.
Crime = criminal.

You know it's a crime going into it. Nobody is forcing you... you're doing it of your own free will. Which means you know the consequences. Doesn't matter if YOU think it's fucked up or not... until the majority says it's cool and they take the law off the books, you're a fucking criminal.

there are just and unjust laws and penalties. If I remember right, you've posted a few times after having a couple drinks. In the 30's those drinks would have made you a criminal.

would you consider yourself a criminal for having a scotch & soda?

you have a right, an OBLIGATION, to bitch about unjust laws. That's how they get changed.

eventually.

disagree. there are violent criminals who deserve whatever they get, and there are people caught with weed in their pocket who don't deserve to be fucked with at all.

Very true. I have a friend that met a girl in a bar a few years ago and they went out a few times. She told him she had a friend dying of cancer and wanted to know if he knew where to get some weed for him. My friend hadnt smoked pot for like 10 years but he told her he would ask around thinking that would be the end of it. She kept bugging the hell out of him for weeks telling him how much pain her 'dying friend' was in so he got some weed from someone he worked with and gave it to her (not sold, gave)just to shut her up. Turned out she was a cop and and as soon as he handed the weed to her he was surrounded by a dozen cops with guns pointed at him. They ended up taking his car, which he never got back, and is now a convicted felon, never been in trouble whatsoever his whole life. Nice system we have here.

I have a right to hate this thread. It's so damn boring besides phogirl home-schooling that cop... :1orglaugh

Amputate Your Head 03-15-2003 04:48 AM

Did you know, when I was a driver.... I would routinely get stuck spending the night in places like downtown Philly, or south Cicero in Chicago, or Yonkers.... etc... waiting til morning to get loaded up. It's illegal for me to have a firearm in the truck. The fucking thugs can carry machine pistols, but I can't protect myself because then I'm a criminal.

that's fucked.

I don't break them because I don't like them, I break them because they're too fucking hard to follow, just like everybody broke the laws during prohibition. Hell they had booze at parties for politicians. A law that is ridiculous will get broken.

I don't believe that people who smoke weed are criminals any more than someone who drank a beer was a criminal in the 30's. Laws should be made against criminal i.e. evil, exploitive, brutish behavior. Law should not make criminals out of otherwise normal, civil people.

I agree with you dig on the dope thing.... my point is (and has been), don't bitch about the cops when you KNOW full well there is a price to pay for something you're doing. (not you in particular here) The same guys I always see here bitching about how bad the cops suck are the ones that keep saying "well, I had a suspended license.... or I only had a fuckin' ounce on me.... bastards got no right!"

fuck.... blaming the cops cuz YOU got caught being a fuckup is stupid. They're just doing a job. Don't like the laws? Bitch to fucking Congress.

nah I don't blame the cops, and I think I said that already. The cops are the tools of the government and they enforce the laws they're paid to enforce. When the law is unjust cops catch the heat I think unfairly.

Wow, that's weird. The bosses who start click it week, is this to like pay the police extra wages? or something? I mean when the no-seatbelter pays the ticket the police get a percentage, right? And this pays thier salary?? Huh?

As with all tickets, when people pay them, who gets the money? The court, the government, the police or old people?
