one year later I've lost 65 lbs

This time last year I was weighing nearly 240 lbs. I cut out red meat, then I cut out meat and dairy completely ( vegan diet ) the weight dropped like butter w/ very little gym time. I currently weigh 180 lbs and have energy like a horny 17 y/o ( I'm 47 )
so everyone can eat what they like, but personally having a plant based diet has transformed my life.
here's to a healthy lean 2015

Congrats! I understand how hard that can be, I am trying to maintain a 190 weight and doing it with the constant temptation of food around us at all times is hard.

I have decided that aside from a few items, I'm no longer buying boxed or packaged foods. My cabinets still have a few items, but once they are gone, I'm not buying more. As of now, I haven't bought any in 4 months or so. Keeping temptation away from your main living area really helps.

Congratulations, badgirlfilms!

I guess it depends on your metabolism as well, others do just as well on meat + diary + some veggies (low carb)

as people say... "shop around the perimeter of the store.. never the isles".

I also heard someone say once "if its advertised on TV, you shouldn't be eating it" and that is almost 100% true as well.

Good job. There's many ways to do it, and my thing lately has been upping good fat intake and lowering cabs. No cardio, just heavy deadlift, squats and cleans.

Very impressive congratulations!!

For me, my diet is 80% fruits and veggies, maybe 10% carbs (tho that's my downfall, I love 'em) and about 10% meat (mostly chicken, fish and pork, rarely a steak).

Happy, healthy, lean and not-so-mean....

Congrats but I did the same thing and I still eat meat, drink beer and pretty much consume whatever I want. I just modified my eating habits.

Awesome man! I went through a stage for a few years ago, had kids, renovations, etc. and became a fatty. Got up to 240 as well, at 6ft...not huge, but enough it was effort tying my shoes and walking up stairs.

Worked out hard for 2 months last fall, added a lot more good carbs to my diet and cut out most dairy and got down to 190 pounds during that time.

Carbs aren't all that evil, if you're eating the right ones. Fruits are great for you (just ask Juicy), it's all the processed shit that's junk.

and this the only time I've done low carb and not felt like shit. The higher fat intake helps that. Actually, focusing on getting good fats and protein automatically lowers the carbs because those types of foods don't have many carbs.

I've had a few people ask me how I got so trimmed down, and I just tell them to stop centering your meals around carbs(and sugar). You'll never eliminate them, nor should you -- but a good step to take would be stop jamming bread into your face every time you eat. It's hard for people to realize that eating fat doesn't make you fat --- carbs make you fat. But every supermarket food is still advertised as low fat, while they're loaded with carbs and sugar.

But I will say that bagel on my carb re-feed day is so nice.
