Glad I quit using them a long time ago.

We are writing to inform you that PayPal has modified its Acceptable Use Policy. As of May 12, 2003, PayPal will no longer support transactions for adult content or products.

After a careful review of the financial factors relating to the processing of adult transactions, we concluded that this change was the best course of action for our business.

We understand that payment processing is a critical component of any business, and hope that this two-month notice will provide you with sufficient time to transition to an alternate payment system.

Summary of the New Policy

Under the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy, effective May 12, 2003, PayPal will no longer allow accounts to send or receive payments for adult content or products that are not sold through the Mature Audiences section of eBay's website. PayPal will continue to process payments for eBay-hosted items that are in compliance with eBay's listing requirements and restrictions because eBay listings are easier to monitor than website-based transactions. Click here to read the full terms of the Acceptable Use Policy.

You may keep your PayPal account open after May 12, 2003, on a good faith basis. Your transaction history will still be viewable online, and you may continue to withdraw funds under your current account guidelines. Reserves for accounts with rolling reserves will continue to operate, with reserves ending 180 days after the receipt of the last transaction. Because you are not being required to close your PayPal account, your account access may be limited if it is determined that your account activity violates PayPal's new policy on adult content.

PayPal customers affected by the new policy who paid the Visa, MasterCard High Risk registration fee will have their registration fee refunded. The fee will be refunded no later than June 13, 2003.

Thank You for Your Business

We apologize for any inconvenience this change will cause to you, and would like to thank you for your business.

If you have any questions about the Acceptable Use Policy, please feel free to contact your account manager.

Sincerely,

The PayPal Team

I guess the oncoming witch hunt really is scaring off a lot of people these days....

Why do you say that? Netbilling can set you up to accept credit cards and checks very quickly.

Thank you, Mitch Farber

I got this info this morning from a source, make sense of it at your own:

I knew that would happen eventually. eBay was forced to buy PayPal because it was the default payment vehicle for their auctions. They had no choice. Peter's whole business model wasn't to process transactions, it was to reach critical mass on eBay such that they would have to be purchased. It was always an Go Public get Acquired exit strategy for that group.

It has been mentioned before, but....

The casino industry has got together and created a payment system of their own.... the adult industry has always prided its -self on being the inovators on the net

prove it.... the money cant be the reason we havnt done it so far.... can it?

Why not offer every person on the web $100 credit..... no questions...... if 25% pay its got to be a winner

Humm, i hope so! Because i like paypal as our main payment method to our clients (webmasters) because of is popularity. I'm looking at epassporte, sent 2 emails and still got not respondse from the business account department... since a week now.

About FirePay, i don't know if our kind of transactions (webdesign) is accepted. They have something fine, they are in the same city than me (Montreal, Canada)... I'll send some emails and let you know.

As i can see, many post are for webmasters who's having adult websites... But not mush of all the webdesign community.

Seeya!

Have you ever heard of TokenSystems? I have been using them for a long time now and I believe their system is the best way to charge for your content.

It is a pay-per-view AVS company and you can charge a couple dollars for just one movie clip and believe me, PEOPLE WILL PAY IT! Save your bandwidth charges and don't give your whole site away for $20-30 a month. Make a couple dollars off just one movie clip!

Here is some more information:
http://www.tokensystems.com/promo.htm

P.S. I don't make a penny from that link above, I just wanted to tell you about TokenSystems, becuase of PayPal canning all adult accounts.

Thank you.

Just looked at that site..
http://www.tokensystems.com/owners.htm

and the navigation doesn't appear to work
which does exactly fill me with confidence
about their payment system if they have
the same standards with that too
