Let me help everyone here in the U.S. who doesn't want to open a .pdf file

The U.S. is ranked LOW. Number 44 to be exact.

I'm going to guess that info will be used to say: "See! We need 'universal healthcare' and thank God for 'ObamaCare' "

I am of the opinion that before the govt. got heavily involved in "health care" with HMO's back 30 years ago that our health care system was great. You didn't NEED insurance because it was cheap enough to pay out of pocket for all but the most catastrophic health needs.

But once the govt. got involved...our health care system became "broken". And now we once again need the govt. to "fix" something...that the govt. broke in the first place.

Funny how that seems to be the case in so many things in our society. The govt. creates the problem and then "fixes" it. And we end up not as well off as we were before the govt. ever got involved in the first place.

Just my opinion based on what I've seen in my lifetime.

Thank the Kaiser family and Richard Nixon. One day Kaiser rolled off his kids ass and thought, "Healthcare for profit!" and of course Nixon, a republican, thought, "What's in it for me?" Bang, done deal.

Watch the "Fog of War." Robert McNamara brings it up.

And to be more precise - the list only contains 51 countries. So 44 out of 51, not out of the whole world (200+ countries).

Czech people are born unhappy but don't you dare to say something bad about them or their country as a foreigner. They reserve the only right to bash themselves

Well,i remembered one good joke about Czech envy which i read on expats.cz and it goes like this:
A man come to other man garden and tells a host how one snail will escape from a bucket.
And the host says "Dont worry, those are Czech snails, others will pull him back".

Yes there is also "Croatian envy" and i though how envy is exclusive to us but apparently it isn't
We even have expression "Da'Bog'da susjedu crkla krava" which means "Let God kill neighbor cow"
or "If only God would kill neighbor cow" .Some expression cannot be translated 100% correct, even in english sometime is best to leave expression un-translated.

Same here (saying is "one is happy when neighbor's house is on fire"). Every country in the region tends to think that they are the worst people etc

after 2 wars, 20+ years of sanctions our 3rd world shit hole scores better than 1st world USA...

in my entire life I have spent maybe 5000$ on heathcare and most of that was for one operation I could not wait a month to do for free but had to have my skull opened by the head of maxiofacial surgery in the best clinic ASAP so it cost me a whopping 3000$ total with 7 days stay in hospital and all the cat/mri/bloodwork included...

its hard to fuck up healtcare like in the USA...in fact i think the USA is probably the only country in the world with predatory health care I really have never heard of such medical bills anywhere else but in free america

What was the US ranked in 2005, before Romneycare took effect? (See what I did there?)

It's a serious question however.

This is not the quality of the service, but effectiveness ranking. Like if you get a service in X country for 10.000$ and same service in Y country,0 which may be 3% worse quality, but for 2000$ than the second country would outrank the first.

Better question is what place would US have been in 1972/76/80/84/88? Considering how screwed Americans are as far as healthcare costs US should be Number 1. Dontcha think? Shrinking disposable income cannot be good for our biz me thinks.

Actually, not quite, it's comparing life expectancy vs spending... life expectancy is obviously based on dozens of factors other than spending, so drawing conclusions about efficiency is almost pointless...

One such factor might be smoking / alcohol consumption rates, it's not really a health care issue, but more of a social problem, in some countries it's just more "cool" to smoke/drink...

for example Singapore has one of the lowest smoking/alcohol consumption rates in the world, leading to high life expectancy, which leads to "high efficiency"... while Russia has one of the highest, leading to low life expectancy, which leads to "low efficiency"...

so in those 2 examples, it tries to draw economic conclusions ("efficiency"), when main factor causing the differences may be social differences between those 2 countries...

for example Singapore has one of the lowest smoking/alcohol consumption rates in the world, leading to high life expectancy, which leads to "high efficiency"... while Russia has one of the highest, leading to low life expectancy, which leads to "low efficiency"...

so in those 2 examples, it tries to draw economic conclusions ("efficiency"), when main factor causing the differences may be social differences between those 2 countries...
Yes, but again - spending is also a big factor in rankings, that is why I said that 2000 VS 10000 for the same thing would probably make that cheaper one more effective, even if that more expensive one is more quality one.

Just another useless table. How do they measure it? I'll just show you an example. Right a hour ago my wife went to the clinic for a thyroid ultrasound (she hasn't back yet). The clinic is located only two blocks away from the place we live at and the price of of this procedure is... ZERO (0 rubles/dollars).

Why has she want there? Just because a couple of weeks ago she's got a full medical examination (guess the price of it? yes, it's also 0). That examination includes chest X-ray, electrocardiogram, gynecology + various urine and blood tests (biochemistry, hormones, tumor markers, viruses etc). Her doctor decided that the thyroid hormones are a bit outstanding so she does ultrasound right now.

Now what I actually wanted to say. According to the table from the OP's post, there are lots of countries with a "better" medicine. But why it is better? For example there are many GFY members from various counties. Guys, please tell me when exactly you or your relatives have done the most recent full medical examination and how much have you paid for it? As I said above, my wife did it about two weeks ago and it (the examination) still continues. The total price for all is 0.

P.S. My country is the last one in that table.

If you will spend less to your over-sized army which constantly fights 3-rd world countries, you probably will not need to pay for it at all
