About 10 years ago I worked for them and they were shaving my hours and fucking adjusted my pay 50c/hr less out of nowhere for no reason. I called them out when the supervisor was there and I was paid off to not say anything.. Glad to see I'm not the only one..

So you think it's OK to shave a persons earnings? Very interesting line of thought you have there.

The managers take note that most employees aren't responsible and don't track their hours. I had a manager that stole money and blamed it on whoever worked the shift.

Doing bad always comes back a few factor worse, I remember that same manager got all his tires slashed.

I think he means from the employers point of view "you should be grateful you have a job" and not complain about a short pay-check.

(then again, it's Richard and I could be way off. lol)

Oh, yes that makes much more sense. A an affiliate, I should be grateful that sextronix allows me to send my traffic to them and shouldn't complain if they feel like shaving a bit of my earnings.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.

There seems to be a growing number of people who feel that if you are working at a low wage job like McDonalds you are a second class citizen and not worthy of the same rights and protections as everyone else.

Two of the eight comments on that article are people basically saying that McDonalds workers are losers and deserve to be taken advantage of.

It's crazy.

It's that way and always will be. At google, anything less than an engineer is 2nd tier and treated as such.

When was that not true? When you were 16, people were making fun of others who worked at fast food restaurants and those people were usually certain personality types (uhmmmm you know, not the cool kids)

My observation over the years is that it has become more increasingly accepted among peers, not the opposite.

Sure, if you are not a kid and you are working at a place like McDonalds there will be some people (likely younger people) who will make fun of you. And there are some people who will make fun of anyone that does a job that they consider beneath them. It just seems like in the last few years a sort of anger towards these people has emerged. I think part of it is that there recently has been more talk about the business practices of these companies (like McDonalds and Walmart) and there have been more cases of people working at these places talking about how they want to earn more money.

Maybe I am reading too much into it, but it just seems like things have gone to a whole new level.

I tend to agree.

And at the same time there's also those communities that have been hit quite hard with a slumping economy and loss of better paying jobs (manufacturing sector) that have little else to offer except service industry positions like fastfood restaurants, Wal-Mart, etc.

In which case, people tend not to ridicule anyone (regardless of age) for working these menial positions.

In the past decade our local region has lost nearly every major manufacturing plant that used to pay good wages. We've gone totally from a manufacturing base to a service industry economy...and people from all walks of life are lining up to take low-wage positions just to barely pay the bills.

And it's not an isolated situation these days.

Years ago I worked fast food. When I was on my lunch break in the dining room eating and a rush came in, no one had to ask me to help out. My job - my income - depended on happy customers who returned. And when my boss and I sat down for a few minutes to talk about modern events or what not, he didn't dock my pay either.

Fuck them all. Put cameras up in every last fucking restaurant and the moment they stand still dock their pay, and when it happens too often fire their ass.

/done.

when I was 18 I worked at a Wendy's. Up until then I had only worked a few fast food jobs and my first real job was at 19 at a printing factory. Well anyways I was their go to guy that worked some morning shifts and closed many nights. I didn't think much of it at the time but we were never allowed to get over 40 hours cause they didn't want to pay overtime. Well MANY weeks I worked 43-45 hours in a week and they would ask me to doctor my time card and gave me the extra hours on the beginning of the next week.

You confuse me. You say you worked hard and it was cool because your boss didn't dock your pay if you talked to him about casual non-work topics, but you want cameras in place to dock anyone that stands still? You can't have it both ways.

Also, when you were working at this fast food place if you had worked overtime, but were not paid the overtime wage would you have just shrugged it off and been happy to just have a job?

Wtf does that have to do with what both Richard adn LPink said? Do you just read a sentence, then make up a little story in your own mind and reply to the story?

I worked for Radio Shack for a few years in the early 1990's. About a year after starting the store I worked in moved to a new location. The store was small so it was just me, one other salesman, and the manager.

Every night for 2 weeks we worked at least 1-2 hours getting the new place set up then we worked out asses off over the Easter weekend to move locations. The district manager screwed us and got us no help and no moving van. I literally worked from about noon on Saturday until 6pm on Sunday straight through.

When the end of the pay period came they pulled me into the office and asked me to not claim all those hours I worked. When I told them I worked them, I was claiming them, they actually threatened to fire me. I offered to spread them out over a few weeks if they would rather, but they thought I should work for free because this new store was giving me more opportunity to make sales.

It was crazy and they were pissed for a long time when I claimed the hours.

I worked at Burger King like 19 years ago. Just a few months and then got into auto mechanic related jobs for a handful of years as making Whoppers even without a pay shave wasn't cutting it. Free food was nice though.

As we?ve reported previously, McDonald?s U.S. workers struggle at the bottom of the pay scale. They are estimated to have received the most public assistance of any workers in low-wage jobs?about $1.2 billion worth a year from 2007 to 2011.

http://www.businessweek.com/articles...laims-to-court
And the taxpayer subsidizes the crap food they make

It's OK to subsidize corporate profits for fast food or low wage retail jobs (read: WalMart and others) but to indemnify insurers from losses to the tune of $5.5 billion from Obamacare is corrupt government spending -- I get it!

Cheap manufactured food restaurants are important to society. </sarcasm>

When will big corporations realize they'll make more money in the long run with happy employees? They should be paid fairly and treated like family, instead of some subhuman meat carcass that generates wealth for them.

Based on this thread it's safe to assume that adult webmaster all worked in fastfood..

You need that experience to know how to get people cum fast and leave them with a bit of shame afterwards.

Just like when you eat a burger from any cheap fastfood place.

Actually he is right when you treat employees fairly, its more profitable. They treat your customer better, more productive at work and there isnt a constant cost of hiring and training.
I assume you are young but once apon a time. That's how companies were, they would have big celebrations for working there 25 yr, 50 yrs. If was considered a loss of face for CEO to lay people off. That was before wall st controlled it all. You can tell the switch when personnel became human resources.

That's not what they are talking about, they are talking about you come in for your shift. Its busy when it gets slow you are told go hang out in your car til its busy again and you are off the clock but you have sit around and wait til its busy again to clock back in and work. Target during xmas season was doing a clock out and then finish your work which was a few more hours. Or they make some guy making $400 a week asst manger so they can have him work 60 hrs with no overtime. This isnt new and Im shocked something is finally being done.
These are shit go no where jobs but pay them the hours they worked.
