I get drawn into arguments when I should walk away - but I actually enjoy fucking with right wingers who I believe are destroying the country.

I care deeply about people and the planet and especially people who have helped me so much through the years - like my programmers in the Philippines and India. And yes I got pissed when I realized not many people, even the people who have used my Filipino Programmers gave 2 shits about helping after the Typhoon. Did I react badly and say things I regret? Yes. But a lot of you guys over reacted to my simple acts of trying to get people to pitch in for the Philippines.

So like I say anyone who doubts this story please lets move forward with a $1000 wager into escrow...you can come to my huge fully loaded loft in downtown LA where I live alone - and I will prove everything I just said in this post.

I will continue my Liberal rants and rails against conservatives because I enjoy it - its my only chance to talk to conservatives - they are nearly extinct here in LA.

I'm not going anywhere - although I will tone down the negativity.

DWB continues to call me a fraud - I will be in Thailand soon - where I travel often. I will have a hardrive full of proof of my claims if you want to lay a grand down and lose some money.

And I would do it again. And when I gave him Kudos for the help he is giving the people of Haiti - I meant that with all sincerity. Minte has always struck me as a pretty charitable sort. His posts about his cars and lifestyle etc have always struck me as done more for motivational purposes than flaunting or bragging. 'Work smart and this is what can be achieved' kind of thing.

So singling him out like this is pretty low.

I don't have numbers in front of me, but I'd wager that overall,,Americans donate to Americans in need by a large margin over what get sent to disasters around the world.

I know we do. We have a budget in our company for local charity. It's a long list. Some of the things we support are only for a few hundred dollars. Others are more. It's always easy to rip on business. But when the food pantry is broke. Who steps up and funds it? A child went missing in Milwaukee. A local bank put up the money for a reward. In my community the city purchased some vacant land on the lake. They decided it would be a nice green space. Who came up with the money to build a playground for the kids. My company and a local hospital partnered and did the whole project.

I don't know a single business owner in my group that doesn't support many things. When there is a disaster around the world, we just dig a little deeper. Just like most Americans do.

Some banks and business have done bad things ,but more of them do a lot of good things for the community.

I am not American but my brother in law is. American people are very generous people as far as the ones I have met. Without giving to much away, recently a division of the federal government approached us to purchase a product we make. Non-military hardware so we bit. Had all the testing done went through the mountain of paperwork to be a tier one supplier. Then waited.

Yea, my mother had a temp agency in the late 90s and on.. She was classified as a minority business due to it being woman owned.. We used to do a shitload of govt contracts and you were lucky if you got paid in 90 to 120 days.. Meanwhile we would have to pay all their salaries. We weren't talking just labor type jobs as we had everything from engineers to pharmacist.

Was insane how long they could drag their feet before they paid..

everybody was yugoslavian LOL , but now, all of a sudden, there are 0 yugoslavs left...thats a great lesson in human nature and history if you ask me

I hate to break it to you, but we DO reference being a Floridian or Californian a lot here. I'd say that I hear this several times per week on average.

I know enough about the history of Yugoslavia to say that what happened came as no surprise. That country has had nothing but political problems for 75 years. My Grandfather hated it. When he came to America, he learned English and that's all he spoke. I never once heard him speak in his native tongue.

Our family was and to a certain extent still is involved in industry, banking and politics there. If I posted my last name you would recognize it.

Local businesses have ties to a community and do a lot of good. Massive international conglomerates that push paper rather than producing a product are largely absentee. Chase Bank will pay more in fines for scamming the public this year than they will donate to any worthy cause. Minte owns a company that appears to be a throwback to an earlier era, like what Hershey did for part of Pennsylvania back in the day. Acting like he is the problem is silly. Acting like his company is typical of what post-national conglomerates do for the world is also silly. Walmart, Chase, AIG, Goldman Sachs and that group have zero interest in assisting anyone in need, and zero in common with the philosophy Minte apparently follows.

We ought to have regulations ready to curb the abuse of post-nationals AND congratulations ready for businesses that actually do step up to improve their community locally or provide for needy members of society abroad.

I know we do. We have a budget in our company for local charity. It's a long list. Some of the things we support are only for a few hundred dollars. Others are more. It's always easy to rip on business. But when the food pantry is broke. Who steps up and funds it? A child went missing in Milwaukee. A local bank put up the money for a reward. In my community the city purchased some vacant land on the lake. They decided it would be a nice green space. Who came up with the money to build a playground for the kids. My company and a local hospital partnered and did the whole project. I don't know a single business owner in my group that doesn't support many things. When there is a disaster around the world, we just dig a little deeper. Just like most Americans do.
