Some of my friends from that region never even moved out, so yes I would say parents from that part of the country are more lenient when it comes to putting up with leaching kids.

The reality here is being lost in old stereotypes of young people being lazy and wanting to do this. That's garbage.

Reality :

1. It cost over $125K to get a decent college education in that part of the country.

2. Real estate in that part of the country is impossible, even for people with jobs paying $40k per year.

3. They don't really have anywhere to go!

Yeah.. that is easy to hear. New Jersey?s property taxes are by far the highest in the nation, and net property taxes for the average New Jersey family making about $70,000 a year jumped from $6,244 to $7,410 over the past three years. So much bureaucratic politician bullshit has put our state deeper and deeper in dept year after year.

Governor Christie was the first governor to really do what he claimed during the election race to try and take on some of the big unions. In NJ, one of the biggest was the teachers union - which is ridiculous how it is run and he took it to them to force some cuts. (There is something like 615 school districts - in comparison the state of NY has 690 something.)

If people have to move back in w/ their parents.. it's probably not the lack of work - it's probably b/c they can't afford to buy..

I realize mine are incredibly young to say this... but I want to encourage them to buy assets first, maybe even start a business. Not join the rat race or "poor dad" scenario and get stuck in a mortgage/car etc...

I realize kids aren't a huge source of joy for everyone all the time, but I always want to maintain an open door policy. they need a fucking home base to launch from.

I would kill someone I like for only 7k a year in property taxes, and I do not live in a mansion, The CONDO I am looking to buy is 9k a year in property taxes.
