				to those in the usa
do you have silly sunday opening laws like we do in the uk, were shops shut at 4pm. though a few years ago shope could not even open on a sunday. its so silly. just think the jobs it would make if shops could stay open on a sunday.

				 | The only restrictions on shops being open, or things being sold on Sundays, is that in some counties or cities, there are ordinances about selling alcohol before 2pm on Sundays. After that the liquor stores can stay open until past midnight. But stores can sell anything else, 24/7.... and quite a few do. .

				 | In AZ the liquor restriction on Sunday was from 2 AM to 10 AM ... I think that's even changed to 6 AM like the rest of the week. Other than that, there aren't restrictions on businesses in this state that I'm aware of. |

				 | How would it create jobs? Opening longer hours doesn't mean people will buy more things, it just means the time they do it in is more spread out.

				 | New York state law says no alcohol served or sold from 4am to 8am every day with Sunday being extended until 12pm. However some counties have it slightly more strict. Where I live "last call" is 2am rather than 4am. Additionally, wine and hard liquor cannot be sold in grocery stores here. Only in liquor stores. You can buy beer and those wine cooler things in grocery stores.

				 | Here in Michigan some stores close earlier on Sunday but it's their choice, not a law. Many stores are 24/7. Until recently, you couldn't buy alcohol before noon on Sunday but that was changed to 7am so it's the same as the rest of the week with no alcohol sales between 2am and 7am. Also, we can buy alcohol on xmas now but it's almost impossible to find a store open. |

But logicaly you create jobs. Your logic sugests people buy what they need, not what they want. By this I mean people may spend sunday in the shops and see stuff they want to buy. Your logic sugests people have lots of time to shop, but say you work 9 to 5 durng the week, it means you have only sat or a bit of sunday to shop. people like to relax on sat and so may not want to go out. so that means having to get up early sunday to shop. supermarkets are getting around the law by simply opening small shops that they are alowed to open, so its becoming rather silly now. i remeber when the supermarkets broke the law and stayed open on sundays forcing a change of law (UK).
